Access to the starting point:
After leaving the Trbiz - Udine motorway at Carnia (Tolmezzo), follow the main road past Tolmezzo towards Villa Santini. In the centre of the town, leave the main road at the roundabout and head straight ahead following the signs Raveo, Rigolato. Follow this road through Forni Avoltri to Cima Sapadda, where, just after the church, turn right along a narrow and steep road towards the source of the Piave, Sorgenti del Piave. A little higher up, on the Pian delle Bombarde, park in one of the car parks near the Baita Rododendro.
Path description:
From the parking lot, head past the Baita Rododendro guest house and cross the bridge over the Piavo River to the former military mulatto lagoon Pian delle Bombarde - Laghi d'Olbe. The path, at first very steep, takes you above the gorge of the Rio della Miniera, where you begin to see the southern slopes of the M. Lastroni. The path straightens out a little and heads west. A little further on, we reach a crossroads, to the left the path goes to the Rifugio 2000 hut, and we head straight for the Olbe lakes. The path then leads along the stream across the mountain pasture of Olbe to the memorial chapel, where there is a junction of several paths; it is also possible to get here by ski slope or by gondola from the Sappade valley.
From the chapel, descend northwards to the nearby lake and continue past it to the next crossroads. Straight ahead, the path leads to the Passo del Mulo saddle, while ours turns right to the north-east. Starting to climb again on a path that is for a short time quite broken, we cross a short scree slope below one of the few rocky slopes a little higher up and reach the ridge in a few keys. There we come across the first major remains of the Italian army's WWI shelters - observation posts, which then follow us all the way to the summit of M. Lastroni. The path becomes slightly more exposed, and momentarily more difficult on a small notch before the summit, where it gives way to the ridge. After a few turns, the path quickly leads us to the summit ridge, which will soon take us to the summit itself.

Pri povratku je najbolje po grebenu nazaj do prelaza Passo del mulo in od tam na sever v dolino izvira Piave. Če se spotoma povzpnemo še na Monte Franzo pa to rata kar konkretna in zelo zanimiva komplet krožna tura
