Bele Vode (Kovač) - Sveti Križ above Bele Vode (on south ridge)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the motorway Ljubljana - Maribor take the exit Šentrupert and then continue in the direction of Mozirje and Logarska dolina. At the beginning of Mozirje, turn right out of the roundabout in the direction of Bele Vode, then follow the signs for Ljubija graben. Higher up, the asphalt ends and after a short, rather steep section, the road lays down and leads to a crossroads near the homestead Kovač, which is located on the other side of the stream, and we continue on for about 50 m to a place where the road to Šmihelj nad Mozirjem branches off sharply to the left. At the starting point there are several direction signs and a suitable place to park.
b) From Ljubno ob Savinji or Gornji Grad take Mozirje, from there continue towards Bele Vode from the roundabout near the Hofer shop, then follow the signs for Ljubija graben. Higher up, the asphalt ends and after a short, rather steep section, the road lays down and leads to a crossroads near the homestead Kovač, which is on the other side of the brook, and we continue on for about 50 m to where the road to Šmihel nad Mozirjem branches off sharply to the left. At the starting point there are several direction signs and a suitable place to park.
c) Take the road to Šoštanj, where from the roundabout by the TPP we continue in the direction Bele Vode. After the bridge over the river Pápa and after the railway line at the crossroads, continue straight on in the direction Bele Vode and follow this direction at the following crossroads. At the crossroads after the homestead Slivnik (the homestead is located 500 m before the church in Bele Vode), turn left in the direction Visočki vrh (the church in Bele Vode is on the right). Continue along the slopes of St. Križan, and the road leads you past the homesteads Završe, Bačovnik and Ojstršek, and then you arrive at the homestead Kovač, where you join the road from Mozirje. Turn right here and after about 50 m you will reach a place where the road to Šmihel nad Mozirje turns sharp left, where you can park in a suitable place along the road.

Path description:
From the starting point, we go back along the road a little way, and then at a small crossroads we continue left over a small bridge that leads us across Ljubija. After the bridge, the road turns right and leads us past the homestead Kovač, after which the road starts to climb. After a short climb, partly through the woods, you reach a vast hayfield, across which you quickly reach the Ojstršek homestead.
After the road sign and where the asphalt begins, a short road branches off to the left to the residential houses, and we continue slightly left at this point, on the cart track, which passes an outbuilding on the right hand side. Go right beyond a wooden fence, climb moderately, and then pass through a pasture gate to reach another dwelling house, before which continue left on cart track, which climbs transversely along the edge of a hayfield. With a view of Gora Oljka and the surrounding hills, a wider cart track is quickly reached, continuing from the nearby chapel and cottage. Turn left here and follow cart track, which leads through the woods. Follow cart track, climbing gently at first and then steeply, and at the crossroads follow the one that sticks most closely to the ridge and also appears to be the widest. A fairly steep climb follows, most of it following or just below the south ridge of St Križan. Higher up, cart track flattens out a little, and on the left we see a cliff on which, in spring, we see an extensive stand of auriculas. From here it is only a short cross-climb to reach the top of St Križan at the chapel, where a large number of church buildings stand, the summit itself being slightly to the left.
