Access to the starting point:
Leave the Zagreb-Varaždin motorway at the Sesvete exit, Dugo Selo. We drive to Sesvete and then on to Zagreb.
Leave the Dubrava road through the eponymous part of Zagreb at a large junction and turn right towards Miroševec (there is a McDonalds and a large INA petrol station at this junction).
Continue north towards Miroševec Cemetery (there are two roundabouts along the way, follow the signs for the cemetery). After the cemetery, go through the park of the Castle of Youth and arrive in the town of Miroševec.
Just follow the main road and at the end of the settlement (the beginning of Trnava is not marked) you will come to the next roundabout, from which you go straight ahead. We arrive in the village of Popovec (this village is also not marked) and park at a small crossroads just before the town where the road starts to climb steeply.
The starting point is quite difficult to find. I recommend using navigation.
Path description:
From the parking lot in Popovec go on, orientation is easy because you can see the Cat's Pechina below the Pečovje peak. At the inn, go left up Površnica Street. Soon we reach a crossroads where route 25 turns off to the right, and we go left down Gorščica street on route 24. There are still a few parking options along the road, but on weekends it is often full. The path soon leads to some nice farms and then into the woods, where the asphalt ends.
Further on, we climb along a dirt road that leads to a mountain hut, and along the way we will see the interesting Žlebići spring, where we can refresh and renew our water reserves.
After the spring, leave the road and go into the forest on a steep path, cross the cart track at a higher level and continue on the steep path. Higher up, the path flattens out and you cross several small streams on a wide track. After a section that is often muddy in and after rain, you reach lane in a mixed forest, where the path becomes steeper as you pass through. When we return to the road, the path becomes flatter and we soon reach the crossroads Križni orast, where we join route 25 from the right.
Continue north and after a minute leave the road.
A few minutes walk through the forest and we reach the Gorščica mountain hut.
