Koča na Šumiku - Dom na Osankarici (via pohorski bataljon)

Access to the starting point:
From Maribor or Dravograd, drive to Selnica ob Dravi, from where you continue to the village of Ruše. In Ruše, turn right and then left towards Smolnik. The ascending road soon leads to the village and a few kilometres further on to a crossroads, where you turn right (left to the Šumik waterfall). After a further 100m of driving, you reach a crossroads at the Šumik cottage. Park here in the parking lot near the crossroads.

Path description:
From the Šumik huts, we focus on the footpath towards Osankarice, which after a short climb through the forest leads us to the road, which we follow to the left. After about 20 minutes of walking along the road, we arrive at a crossroads where signs for the Pohorje Battalion camp direct us left across a bridge. The road then turns into cart track, which starts to climb steeply. The path, which continues through the forest, occasionally gets lost among fallen branches, but if you follow the markings carefully, there are no problems with orientation. After a good hour, you will emerge from the forest into a larger clearing, where you will see the Obrolovo Forestry Hut.
The path that then goes back into the forest soon leads us to a forest road, which we follow to the left. The road is followed for a further 10 minutes, leaving at a point where the markings direct us right up along the stream. The path then ascends for a short time and quickly leads us to the Pohorje Battalion camp. The way forward begins to descend slightly and after a further 20 minutes leads us to the home at Osankarici.
