Maria Rain / Žihpolje - Aussicht Petelinz

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the exit Ljubelj (Tržič) and then continue in the direction of Klagenfurt / Klagenfurt. After the bridge over the river Drava / Drau, the road starts to climb steeply, and we follow the main road towards Klagenfurt for a few kilometres before turning right towards Zihpol / Maria Rain. We continue along Göltschacher Straße, which we follow until we reach the parish office, before which we turn right onto Kirchenstraße. Follow this street to its end, where the path starts towards the Petelinc lookout point. There are no parking spaces at the starting point.

Path description:
From the end of Kirchenstraße, continue along the minor road, which is off-limits for further car travel, and follow it for 10 steps to an information board. From the information board, continue along the minor road, which leads past a chapel to a marked crossroads where the path from the village of Resnica / Ressnig joins the trail from the village of Ressnig.
From the crossroads, continue slightly left towards the Petelinc lookout point. The faint road gradually turns into a wide cart track road, which continues through the woods for the most part. A little higher up, another path from Žihpol joins us from the left. Continue straight on here, then a little further on to reach the next crossroads, where you continue slightly right (slightly left St. Urh / St. Ulrich (only marked Rosentalmarsch on the signs)).
A few minutes further on, you reach the first viewpoint with a bench, but the view is not very good due to the trees nearby. From the first bench, continue in the direction of "Petelinz" and start a moderate to steep descent towards the second, more luxurious viewpoint with a bench, which offers a fine view of the Drava, the Borovel and the Karavanke.
