Razpotje Vragovec - Hochstuhl/Stol (via Doslovška planina and hunting cottage)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Lesce, then continue from the roundabout in the direction of Žirovnice and Vrba. Continue along the main road towards Jesenice, which leads first past Vrba and then past Žirovnica. After the bridge over the Završnice River, at the first crossroads, take a sharp right (the exit is not marked) towards Most. At the next crossroads, about 50 m further on, turn left towards Završnice. Follow the Završnice valley to a marked crossroads, located some 10 m before the Završnice lake, and turn left towards Valvasor's home under the Stol. Continue along the ascending (mostly) dirt road, which you follow for about 4 km to a marked crossroads, where you turn right in the direction of Zabreška and Doslovška planina (straight Valvasorjev dom, Potoška mountain pasture. . . ). From the crossroads, continue driving along the road, which climbs transversely to the right, and at the ipsilon (Y) crossroads, turn left onto a steeper road, which is then followed to a smaller crossroads, where there are usually several logs stacked. Park near the junction so as not to interfere with any forestry work.
b) First, take the Bled, from where you continue driving towards Lesce and the motorway. From the roundabout near the motorway, take the exit towards Vrba and Žirovnica. Continue along the main road towards Jesenice, which takes you first past Vrba and then past Žirovnica. After the bridge over the Završnice River, at the first crossroads, take a sharp right (the exit is not marked) towards Most. At the next crossroads, about 50 m further on, turn left towards Završnice. Follow the Završnice valley to a marked crossroads, located some 10 m before the Završnice lake, and turn left towards Valvasor's home under the Stol. Continue along the ascending (mostly) dirt road, which you follow for about 4 km to a marked crossroads, where you turn right in the direction of Zabreška and Doslovška planina (straight Valvasorjev dom, Potoška mountain pasture. . . ). From the crossroads, continue driving along the road, which climbs transversely to the right, and at the ipsilon (Y) crossroads, turn left onto a steeper road, which is then followed to a smaller crossroads, where there are usually several logs stacked. At the 4 km marker, you will also see a signpost marking the beginning of the municipality of Žirovnica, and at the first crossroads after the signpost, continue slightly left towards Most (the exit from the main road is not marked). At the next crossroads, about 50 m further on, turn left towards Završnice. Follow the Završnice valley to a marked crossroads, located some 10 m before the Završnice lake, and turn left towards Valvasor's home under the Stol. Continue along the ascending (mostly) dirt road, which you follow for about 4 km to a marked crossroads, where you turn right in the direction of Zabreška and Doslovška planina (straight Valvasorjev dom, Potoška mountain pasture. . . ). From the crossroads, continue driving along the road, which climbs transversely to the right, and at the ipsilon (Y) crossroads, turn left onto a steeper road, which is then followed to a smaller crossroads, where there are usually several logs stacked. Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the road to the right (the left road leads to Zabreška planina), which changes quite quickly into cart track, and we follow it for about 10 minutes to reach the Doslovka mountain pasture.
After mountain pasture, cart track passes into the forest and then leads us to a place where it crosses a marked path leading from Tinček's hut to Valvasor's home. Cross the marked path and then, at the next crossroads, continue along the left-hand cart track. Higher up, cart track is laid and then leads to a hunting lodge, from which a beautiful view of part of the Julian Alps opens up.
After the hunting lodge, the path passes into the forest and initially continues without any major changes in altitude. After a few minutes, we arrive at a less visible crossroads, where the left path starts to descend towards Stara planina, while the right, less well-trodden path, which we are following, starts to climb through the forest and partly disappears. Even if we lose the "right" path, we will not have any major problems with orientation if we continue in the same direction. After a short climb, we reach a clearly visible path leading from the upper part of Stara planina, and we follow it to the right. Follow the well-traced path for 2 to 3 minutes, then turn left onto a slightly narrower, but well-traced path, which continues the ascent. During the ascent, the path is stopped by a fallen tree, which is best avoided on the left. Quickly return to the path and follow it up to the marked Zabreška trail. After a few minutes of climbing through the forest, you will arrive at a larger clearing, at the edge of which is the Betonska bajta (Betonska bajta).
After the bayte, the markings for Hochstuhl direct us to the right, into the forest, where we immediately notice a sign, which urges us to take a log to Prešern's hut. We continue walking through the forest for a short time, and then we pass a pleasant bench "rest at Janez" to reach a left turn, where just a few steps before the turn, an unmarked path from Tinček's hut joins us from the right, which is still less well trodden. From the bend onwards, we climb crosswise through lane of dwarf pines, along an increasingly scenic route from which we have beautiful views towards Gorenjska and the Julian Alps. Higher up, the trail turns right again, and then past Finžgarjeva skala leads us to a grassy leveling, where the marked trail turns left and passes onto the summit southeastern slope of Maly Hochstuhl. We continue to climb along the path, which opens up really nice views to the east, and we climb to Prešeren's hut in about 30 minutes, with views that also reach Julian Alps. From the hut, continue in the direction of Hochstuhla, where you will first climb Little Hochstuhl in one minute.
From the Small Hochstuhl you descend into the valley between the two Hochstuhls, and from there continue straight ahead (right Ljubelj, Celovška koča. . . ) again in the direction of Hochstuhl. This is followed by a climb of about 10 minutes and the path leads us to the highest peak of the Karavanke Mountains without any major technical problems.
