Ski hotel Vogel - Vrh Krnic (below the slopes of Orlove glave)

Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Lesce exit and follow the road towards Bled and on to Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue driving towards Bohinjsko jezero (Ribčev laz), at which you will come to a crossroads, where you will continue straight along the left (south) side of the lake in the direction of Ukanec and the Savica waterfall. Follow this road to the bottom station of the pendulum at Vogel, then buy a ticket and take the cable car to the top station, which is the starting point for our tour.

Path description:
When you get off at the top station of the cable car, turn right towards the Merjasec mountain hut. This is reached after a 100m walk.
At the hut, take the path in the direction of Vogel, Šije and Rodice. The path first starts to descend gently on a ski slope, and then leads to a nondescript saddle, where the path to Zlatorog branches off to the right. Continue left along the worse road, where there are no signs, but you will come across markings a little further on. The dirt road starts to climb and turns slightly right. A little further on, cart track has a crossroads but the left steep and right curving quickly merge. Then, on the right hand side, we see a cross where the minor road flattens out and leads us to a fork in the path on a small plateau.
Head straight towards Šija and continue slightly uphill on the transport-rescue road. A little further on, the signs for Vogel and Šija direct us to the right on a footpath, which soon leads us to a place where we cross a ski slope. There is also a crossroads where we turn right in the direction of Komna. The left path goes to Šija and Vogel under the slopes of Šija.
Our route now crosses the slopes below the Eagle's Heads without any major ascents and descents. The path soon leads to an unmarked crossroads, where we turn right onto the path below. The path continues to cross the slopes, but then starts to descend and turns slightly to the right so that we get the feeling that we are going the wrong way. But at the point where we are almost sure that we are wrong, we join the path from the top station of the double-seater Last Vogel. Bear left and descend some more. The trail then picks up a rhythm and starts to climb gently. A little further on, you reach a crossroads where a signpost for Vogel directs you up to the left. The trail starts to climb here and leads us over a scree slope to Škrbina, which is the lowest point between Primorska and Gorenjska from Mangart to Črna Prsta (if you don't count Vršič).
At Škrbina, where we join the path below the slopes of Šija, we have a view of Primorska. Continue right along the ridge, which is exposed steeply upwards. The most difficult part of the route follows, crossing a short but precipitous shelf without fixed safety gear. Next, cross the gully, and then the difficulties disappear. Below the top slope of Vogel, cross a scree slope, then the path climbs up grassy slopes to the saddle between Vogel and Vrh Krnic. At the saddle, turn right (left Vogel) and in three minutes of moderate ascent along an unmarked path that runs along a scenic ridge, you will reach the summit.
