Access to the starting point:
Drive to the centre of Dravograd (to get here from Maribor via the Drava Valley or from Velenje via Slovenj Gradec), where the signs for Ojstrica direct us to the road which, after 6. 5 km, leads us to the Church of St John the Baptist on Ojstrica, near which we park in the parking lot.
Path description:
From the church parking lot, continue along the asphalt road, which quickly leads to a marked crossroads with a number of direction signs.
Continue right (straight on the usual route to Huhnerkogel) in the direction of the Church of St. Urban. The way ahead leads along a fairly scenic road, which you follow at the crossroads in the direction of St. Urban.
After the Lonhtar farm, leave the signs for St. Urban and continue left on cart track in the direction of Huhnerkogel.
The way ahead takes us on the wider newer logging trail, which climbs quite steeply, then go left on the waymarked path, which returns to the wider logging trail higher up. There are a few more forks, where you follow the markings, and then, through a slightly more sparse forest, you reach the hunting lodge Bivak Piramida.
Above the hut, continue to the right and follow the gently sloping path that crosses the gently sloping slopes. As you cross the path, you pass the Wolf Stone, which was being hewn by a stonemason for a millstone, but was attacked by a wolf during the work, so the millstone was not finished. A little further on, we arrive at a marked crossroads where we join up with the trail that leads past St. Urban, and we continue left towards Huhnerkogel. We continue to climb along and along the state border for some time, and when the forest thins out further, we are joined on the left by a path that leads past the Doma na Košenjaku (Home on Košenjak).
Continue straight ahead and after a minute of further walking you will reach the top of Košenjak.
