Zgornji Tuhinj - Sveti Vid (above Zgornji Tuhinj) (via Stations of the Cross)

Access to the starting point:
a) Drive to Kamnik, then follow the main road through the Tuhinj valley, leading to Vransko. In the village Laze v Tuhinju turn left towards Zgornje Tuhinj. From the point where you leave the main road, it is about a kilometre climb and you will reach a marked parking area under the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, where you park.
b) Leave the Štajerska motorway at exit Vransko, then follow the signs for Vransko. There is a gradual ascent to the Kozjak Pass (658 m), from which we start descending. At a lower level, pass the Petrol station, then turn right towards Zgornje Tuhinj, about 1 km further on. You will pass a few houses, and in the centre of the village, near the church, you will start descending and the road will turn sharp left. There is another 10 m descent and you reach a marked parking area where you park.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we start climbing up the road along which we parked, and first we pass by the Café pri Mežnarju and the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, where the road turns right. The way ahead takes us past a few more houses, and then signs in the shape of a bird with a yellow border direct us left onto a side road.
Continue past the farm pr Šanc and a few more individual houses. Continue ascending the asphalt road, and before the next farmhouse, go left to follow the signs for St. Vid.
The path ahead leads us along the cart track, which climbs past the goat house, and then continues along the edge of the forest, following the Stations of the Cross along the way. When you reach a dirt road a little higher up, go right (left along cart track), a few steps further, and when you reach another road, go left up towards St. Vid.
The ascent is along a less good gravel road, mostly moderately climbing. The Stations of the Cross continue to accompany us along the way, and higher up, the above-mentioned cart track path joins from the left, as does the Jacob's Way, which runs slightly further west than the cart track path.
We continue straight on the worse road that leads us out of the forest, and within a few minutes of further walking we reach the church of St. Vida, from which we have a beautiful view of the Tuhinj valley.
