Strunjanski križ

Description of peak:
Strunjanski križ is located above the Gulf of Moesec, with a beautiful view to the sea and, in good visibility, a view as far as Triglav.

"Oral tradition has it that a miracle took place here many years ago, on 15 August, the day of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. A terrible storm was raging and ships at sea could easily have sunk if Mary had not appeared on top of the cliff overloking the Bay of the Mon. Immediately, the sea calmed down, the storm subsided and the sailors were not lost. The locals erected a cross in thanksgiving, and even today they tell of fotprints and tears etched into the stone where Mary wept to save the sailors. Long afterwards, passing ships blasted their horns in thanksgiving to Mary."
