Access to the starting point:
From central Slovenia, take the Gorenjska highway, leaving in Hrušice and continuing on the regional road through the Upper Sava Valley past Rateč to Trbiž / Tarvisio. West of Trbiž, continue on the SS13 trunk road towards Udine and leave it after Pušja vasja / Venzone at the hamlet Rio Bianco. At Rio Bianco, turn left onto a dirt road (there is a sand pit on the right, marked CAI 708. It runs parallel to the main road south for a few 100 metres and then turns left in a wide arc. Park here.
Path description:
The macadam road climbs straight up the vast gravel alluvium for another kilometre to the mouth of a side valley, but we can shorten our way there by following the path first straight along the edge of the forest and then past the military training ground. Through the side valley, first follow the concrete road to the information board, then turn left and follow the stone steps up a few serpentine steps to the first washed-out ravine. The path leads into the gorge of the Pozzolons stream. The hillside that clings to us is extremely rugged, as the dunes of scree and broken boulders over and around which the path passes are eloquent testimony to. After an initial hour-long scramble over extensive scree, which had to be held back by several concrete barriers, we reach the Forca di Ledis (752 m), beyond which we approach a crossroads.
The left-hand side of the path, numbered CAI 704 and 708, descends past a wooden crucifix to the memorial chapel and the memorial to the fallen soldiers of the Second World War at the nearby restored mountain pasture Lon.
At the pass, continue straight ahead along the initially scenic CAI 713, which soon leads into a beech forest. There we climb in longer traverses around some ledges. Soon we reach the first grassy clearing of the former mountain pasture with a small puddle, where we have to take a sharp left and after the edge into the forest again. Go through it in a gently sloping traverse to the next overgrown meadow with another small puddle. Beyond this, a marker on a tree directs you left towards the restored shepherd's hut of Scric (1230 m; the wooden sign above the entrance reads "Scric" in Friulian).
At the tent, turn sharp right onto another long steel cable through the beech forest. Below the steep western slope of the Cuel di Scrica (1476 m), continue in the keys, and at the top you come out on a small grassy flat. A stone track winds through the scrub towards the top of the Carman, which becomes steeper and steeper, and the track itself more and more craggy. Soon you reach the ridge exposed to the south and the summit.
