Access to the starting point:
a) From Kranjska Gora, past Trbiz / Tarvisio, and along the old road towards Udine until Resiuta, where you turn left into Resia, then follow the signs for Stolvizza and later, when the road narrows, Coritis. Here continue on the main road (watch out for some side roads into the woods or private areas) until the end of the asphalt, where there is a parking area on the macadam, with a sign prohibiting any further traffic.
b) From Nova Gorica or Sezana take the Italian motorway to Palmanova, here take the route Trbiz / Tarvisio to the exit Carnia, then follow the old main road towards Trbiz to Resiuta, where turn right for Resia, then follow description a.
Path description:
From the parking lot, follow the road, which is closed to traffic and becomes paved higher up, to the mountain pasture Angle (20 minutes to get here). Just below the main building, which houses an agritourism farm, a signpost for the 731 trail directs you to a path along a wooden fence. 731 is the trail to the mountain pasture Angle (20 minutes to get here). Past the building and through a maze of fences, the path leads to a meadow on the left mountain pasture, where the next crossroads are.
Here, continue left towards Zg. This part of the trail is the flattest, runs mostly through the forest, after 15 minutes crosses the main ravine that comes from under the Med Baban saddle and then leads us in the next 5 minutes to mountain pasture Zg. Brda (another 20 minutes to get here).
Here we turn right at the crossroads towards the Manzano bivouac, first rising right over the meadow to the waterhole from there into the forest, where the path first runs flat, then climbs slightly, and higher up it crosses the main gully again and climbs to the right of it all the way moderately partly through the forest, partly through the open countryside, where the view opens out several times to the Manzano bivouac and Velika Baba, and higher up the path turns more to the right to the next crossroads, where you turn sharp left at the Bivacco sign. From here it is a short climb to the bivouac. (additional 1 hour 5 min walk to get here).
At the bivouac the trail turns left under the rocks (sign for Med Baban/All Infrababa and Veliko Baba/Monte Baba Grande). The path here is quite steep and a bit exposed, a sure step is needed. Higher up you have to cross the ravine again, the passage is rough, then smooth sloping rocks with few steps, where extra caution is needed in the wet. Higher up, the left side of the gully climbs moderately, but occasionally steeper, and in some places the path is led just below small rock jumps, where the path is narrower and slightly exposed, and in some places also strewn with rubble and stones. Just below the saddle, we climb through a short gully and then, in the grassy world, we see a pole marking the Med Baban saddle (an additional 50-minute walk from the bivouac). Here we turn right in the direction of M. Baba Grande 731a. From here the trail is even less visible, the markings are sometimes too few, but a few cairns help, but the attentive eye can easily find the right direction and later also the trail in the initially labyrinthine world, where we do not gain much height, then the trail heads right slightly up to an undistinguished rocky gully, where we turn sharp right and leave it higher up with the help of our hands. Here we find ourselves in the top part, where partly on the scree there is a nice path to the ridge, where we quickly find ourselves on the top of Velika Baba, slightly below it or on it (from the Med Baban saddle 30 minutes).

Discussion about the trail Parking below Pl. Kot - Velika Baba (Kanin) (over Zg. Brda and saddle Med Baban)

Danes sva skupaj z zeno Suzi opravila to turo v lepem, ne pretoplem vremenu. Turo toplo priporocam ljubiteljem neokrnjene naravne lepote!
