Ljubelj - Lokovnikov Grintovec / Grintoutz (via Koča na Ljubelju)

Access to the starting point:
From the Ljubljana - Jesenice motorway, take the Ljubelj exit and follow the road to the border crossing. Just a few metres before the border crossing, you will see a parking lot on the right hand side.

Path description:
At the end of the parking lot, you will see the mountain signs for the Ljubelj hut, which take you up a few steps to the old Ljubelj road. Follow this road, which climbs moderately and is converted into a toboggan run in winter, all the way to the Ljubelj hut. This is reached after less than an hour's walk, with sometimes beautiful views of Loibler Baba, Veliki vrh and Begunjščica.

From the hut, continue along the road to the Austrian side, where, after a five-minute walk, signposts direct you right into the forest. The path through the forest climbs gently and after about 30 minutes' walk from the end of the road leads to the border ridge. The path along the ridge is not steep, but the slopes you walk on are steep, so great care is needed, especially in the wet. In some places, the fixed safety gear and ladders are helpful. The forest then becomes thinner and the path leads to the Grunta pastures. The ground is an unmarked peak on the path we are walking on.
Here a track with mountain pasture of Korošica joins us from the right, and we continue straight along the ridge and along the boundary fence. The path then leads to a crossroads where the path to Dovjakovo sedlo branches off to the left. From there, continue along the path (cow paths) in a gentle ascent under the northern wall of Ljubeljska Baba. Soon you will pass a huge conglomerate boulder, and from there it is a slightly steeper climb to the already mentioned Dovjakovo sedlo, which is surrounded by a wooden fence (state border). Turn left towards the foot of the top slope. The path winds through a larch groove to dense patches of dwarf pines. First climb over a short scarlet cliff, then between dense patches of dwarf pines to the first grassy summit. A few ten metres further north, in the middle of the dwarf pines, a second grassy peak opens up with a rock inscribed with an angle of 1810 m. This is the highest point of Lokovnik's Grintovec, but the view from the first grassy peak, which must be at the same altitude as the second one, is incomparably better.
