Access to the starting point:
From the Gorenjska motorway, take the exit Jesenice - west and follow the road towards Kranjska Gora. Soon you will see signs for Dovje, which will direct you to the right on the ascending road, which will take you quickly up to the upper part of the village. Through the village, follow the road towards Kepe and Frauenkogel, then come to a slightly larger crossroads where you continue sharp left towards Kepe. Continue along a well-maintained forest road for some time before reaching the next junction. Turn left there and continue to Brinja, where a sharp tractor cart track turns off the road to the right at the left-hand bend. Follow it to a ravine called Šetinov rovt (marked on the map with an elevation of 1184 m).
Path description:
There are two log cabins on Šetinov rovt. Cross the clearing and go straight into the forest, where you will come across a footpath and follow it over the Šija 1 saddle (1349 m) across the north-eastern slopes of Planica, from where you will descend in an arc to the Šija 2 saddle (1362 m). From there, follow the ridge up to the rocky Kurjeks (marked on the map with an elevation of 1666 m). Kurjeki is a rocky - rubbly ridge with several indistinct peaks, densely covered with dwarf pines, which descends southwards from Gubný. The path is partly overgrown with dense patches of dwarf pines, but is nevertheless distinct and initially steep. At the Kurjekov ridge it lays down and leads almost horizontally towards Plevelniki. It is often interrupted by narrow, craggy gutters which are dangerous for slipping. One of them is crossed on an old wooden footbridge. Then climb up a steep, scrambly and grassy slope to a cross-marked path below Plevelniki, leading from Erjavec's Gully. This path winds along the steep southern slopes of Plevelniki to the ridge in front of Gubni, which is also bypassed on the southern slope. Soon you will reach a broken notch, which you can safely climb over with the help of ropes and pegs. Continue along the more or less narrow, but scenic ridge towards the slender Dovška Mala Kepa. The trail bypasses it on the precipitous southern side, on an exposed ledge, which is also partly protected by a rope. From there the ridge widens again. Soon, the path leading from Bertahütte joins from the right. From there, it is only a short climb up a wide grassy slope to the summit, where a large cross stands. The second cross is on the Austrian side, about 50 metres lower down.
