Access to the starting point:
Leave the Tornyszentmiklos - Budapest / Budapest motorway at the Balatonvilagos exit and drive north towards Keszthely, Balatonfüred. In Balatonfüzfő turn right towards Veszprem Castle. In Veszprem, go towards Györ and later Zirc. From here, drive for another ten minutes and then you will see the turn-off for Csesznek on the right. In Csesznek, you can leave your vehicle in the large parking lot under the ruins of Cseszneki var, or go to Vasut ut (down the first street on the left) and park there in a suitable place.
Path description:
In Vasut ut you will see tourist information boards and signs for Vasalt ut. Go left here, over the small bridge and then along the forest to the foot of the cliff. Continue to the right and you will reach the first steel cable. The path continues through the Kömosó Szurduk gorge, following it to the start of the ferry.
Right at the start, the ferrata shows its teeth, because there is a challenging C overhang. There are a few wedges to help us. After the overhang, the route changes to B difficulty and then we cross the wall. After crossing it, we reach a five-metre "suspension" bridge.
After the bridge there is an almost vertical climb on the rocks, then a few minutes of crossing smooth slabs, where in a few places there are crampons and wedges to help us. The path continues gradually to the southern slope. After crossing the smooth slabs, there is a vertical climb and another very difficult C overhang, after which the route becomes less difficult.
The steepness gradually eases and the fixed safety gear ends, and we see the walls of the mansion in front of us. The path continues around the manor house, which we pass on the south side. The ruins are quite impressive and worth a look.
We descend along an easier tourist path.
I should mention that the Hungarian ropes are thicker than those in Slovenia and Austria (fi 1,5 cm) and it is necessary to adjust the lanyards.
