Forestry cottage Rovtarica - Planina Tamar (via Gladka dolina)

Access to the starting point:
a) First drive to Škofja Loka, then continue to Železniki. In Železniki turn right for the route Rudno, Dražgoše and Bohinjska Bistrica. Towards Dražgoše, drive to Rudno, then turn slightly left towards Bohinjska Bistrica. Continue along the macadam road for some time, which climbs moderately for the first 10 km and then begins to descend towards the forestry cottage at Rovtarica, where you park at a suitable place at the junction of several roads.
b) Drive to Bohinjska Bistrica and continue to Soriška planina. After a few kilometres of climbing, we arrive at a crossroads where the road to Soriška planina turns sharp right, and we continue straight on in the direction of Železniki and Škofja Loka. The road then becomes macadam, and we follow it to the forestry hut at Rovtarica, where we park in a suitable place at the junction of several roads.

Path description:
From Rovtarica, follow the road in the direction of Vodice, the Goška Ravan Mountain Home and Selska mountain pasture. The road first climbs past a few huts, then passes into the forest, where it quickly leads to a marked crossroads. From the crossroads, turn left in the direction Počitniški dom Goričane (straight ahead Goška Ravan) and continue along the road, which gradually passes into the Gladko valley. The route continues along the gently sloping road, which leads us a little further to the next crossroads. This time continue straight ahead or slightly right, and we continue to follow the gently sloping road to the marked parking lot at the next crossroads.
Here, the road branches off to the left to the nearby Gotičane Holiday Home, and we continue slightly to the right, following the road from the valley to the western slopes of Jelovice. The road then crosses the steeper slopes of Vršan vrh, from where we occasionally get a nice view to the west. There is a descent and we reach a crossroads where we join the road via Žontarica.
Here, bear slightly left and continue along the road, which continues slightly above mountain pasture Tamar. At the next crossroads, which is only a few 100 m further on, continue slightly left (right Ribenska and Grofova mountain pasture), and we follow the road to the next marked crossroads.
From this junction, continue left towards Oblakova and Povšinova mountain pasture. There is a short climb and the road leads out of the forest to Oblakova mountain pasture.
On the other side of mountain pasture the road goes into the woods and quickly leads to a small crossroads where we continue to the left. The minor road splits into two cart track just a few metres further on. Take the steep cart track on the left, which, after an initial climb, lays down and splits again. This time continue on the bottom right cart track, which leads to the edge of the pasture, where you see a sign saying beware of the bull. Cross the pasture fence here and, with fine views of Julian Alps, walk quickly to the shepherds' tents in the middle of mountain pasture.
