Bottom station of Pohorje cable car - Pečke (via Meranovo)

Access to the starting point:
The lower station of the Pohorje funicular is located on the south side of Maribor in Radvanje. It can be reached from several directions: in Maribor there are signposts or icons for Pohorje at the most important crossroads. If you arrive in Maribor on the southbound inbound road from Ljubljana, follow it through Hoče and turn left at the traffic lights at the shopping centres (direction Radvanje), continue along Lackova cesta and follow the signs. City bus No 6 also runs to the station below.

Path description:
From the parking lot, head west to the small bridge and turn right onto the footpath through the forest. Exit the forest onto the road near the Pohorka Guesthouse, where you continue straight ahead along the street. At the end, at the crossroads, turn left along the road towards Pohorje, but only as far as the traffic sign, after which turn right off the road onto the footpath. The path passes a cottage under Kogel - 400 m, where there are some views. Across the slope on the right you can see the pond into which the Pekrski potok flows. Go in the direction of the house, where you get on the road, and follow it over the bridge and past the pond to the crossroads, where you get on the asphalt road and turn sharp left. The road leads up through the village, and at the crossroads you go right.
The path takes you higher and higher, passing under vineyards and through a short forest. There is a sign near the farm, and at the next crossroads turn right off the road into the woods, as indicated by a marker on a tree.
The path descends further, crosses a small stream, then turns left at the cottages, where you rejoin the macadam road. Follow the road through the hamlet by the electricity transformer, where you get onto the tarmac road. The signpost points left but this route is not passable for now (May 2014), so turn right. The asphalt road descending leads us past the chapel, over the "Vinogradniški most" to the crossroads. Here a sign directs you to the road on the left. The road winds up the hill between the vineyards, turning sharp left at a higher point, where there is also a bench for resting. Then it turns right again and the steepness eases after a few minutes (we are on Prince's Hill - Meranovo (503 m)).
Here you have a nice view towards Maribor and the Pohorje foothills. The road continues slightly to the left and climbs to the top of Prince's Hill - 503 m, where there is a crossroads with direction signs. The path from Limbuš joins from the right and we continue in the direction of Bolfenk-Pečke. The path goes into the forest again for a short time and ascends and leads us to a clearing where "Andrei's beehive" stands. The road descends towards the Krajner farm, passing through a courtyard towards the edge of the forest. Here we come to cart track, a signpost warns us that we are on the right path. From here on, the path is marked. It climbs gently, turns left at a higher altitude, runs along the slope (there is a "Metka's bench" by the side of the path). The path starts to climb, a stream can be heard on the right, which is then crossed over a footbridge by the mighty rocks. It then climbs to the right and turns left again, where it lays down. In another 15 minutes it leads to a crossroads where you turn left and exit the forest onto the meadow below the house at Pečka (715 m).
