Pivola (Reka) - Mariborska koča (čez Petkovo sedlo in mimo slapu Skalca)

Access to the starting point:
From the four-lane road between Maribor and Slivnica, turn right at the semaphoreised junction in the direction of the village of Hoče (and left from the direction of Slivnica). Follow the road through Spodnje and Zgornje Hoče towards Slivniško Pohorje, but only until the first sharp left turn, at which you will see the Rečnik guesthouse and the turn-off to the village of Pivolo. Leave your vehicle at the inn (of course, ask permission first) or somewhere nearby.

Path description:
From the Rečnik Inn, continue up the meadow to the forest, which is quickly reached (the path leads past St Lenart and Hočka hut on the right). Walk through the forest for a minute or so and then return to the village, where you cross the road leading to the ski slopes. Continue along the narrow asphalt road, which turns into cart track at a nearby residential house, which then leads through an orchard. Once slightly higher up, we return to the main road, but again we just cross it and continue in the direction of the village of Kapla. Here the path is laid, and we have a fine view to the north-east. When the road leads us higher up to a small crossroads, where we see an arrow on a power pole pointing to the left, we do not continue along the left-hand road, but straight on to the marked path which climbs through the lane of a forest. We quickly return to the road, which offers a fine view to the south and east, and we walk along it for about 20 metres, then continue right in the direction of Dolar's Chestnut. The narrow asphalt road takes us higher into the forest, where we then leave it as the signs lead us left to cart track. Walk through the forest for a while and then arrive at the Veronika Inn, where you can have a bite to eat.
After the inn, the path returns to the forest and continues along a narrower path and the steeper cart track, which then leads to a field. Continue along the wood and the path leads to an abandoned, unfinished hut. From here, first walk along a well-maintained forest road, which will take you to a couple of farms. Above the farms, the road becomes asphalted, and we see the Planinka home a little higher up in one of the meadows. A little further on, we arrive at Petkovo sedlo, where at a crossroads we continue straight in the direction of the Fideršek farm. The path continues into a folded cart track, which continues through a compacted spruce forest. The path continues past a waterfall, after which we reach the road again.
Continue uphill (Skalca waterfall on the left) and then, just after a sharp right-hand bend, onto a meadow. Above the meadow, the path returns to the forest, and we then climb in a few minutes to Mariborska koča, from which we get a nice view.
