Description of peak:
Žusem is a 669-metre-high hill with a colourful history and great potential for the future. It represents the northern edge of the Kozjansko region and its name comes from the surname of the castle's first owner, Poppo de Suzzenheim, a knight of Žusem and minister of Krško. The view southwards from Žusm reveals the divide between two worlds: the pre-Alpine and the sub-Palatinate. To the west and south rise the hills, composed mainly of dolomite and limestone, with the highest peaks between 500 and 800 metres (Kunšperška gora, Orlica, Vetrnik, Oslica, Rudnica, Bohor), which belong to the eastern Posavsko hribovje, which is part of the Pre-Alpine world. On the southern slope of Žusm is the settlement of Dobrina, and on the western slope is Hrastje.
In recent years, tourism and other activities in and around Žusm have been developing considerably. Hiking and paragliding are particularly worthy of mention. The proximity of Lake Slivnica also brings individual excursion tourism, which has a good influence on the development of the surrounding tourist farms. There is also potential for the development of health tourism at the Castle Spring in Dobrina.
