Pico Ruivo

Description of peak:
The highest peak of the island Madeira and of the entire Madeiran archipelago. There are 4 fotpaths leading to the summit: from Pico Arieiro, from Achado do Teixeira, from the Encumeada Pass and from the village of Ilha. There are two viewing platforms at the top, which offer excellent views of the whole of Madeira and, in clear weather, also of the neighbouring island of Porto Santo. Due to the changeable weather, the climb up the mountain can be very dangerous.
