Access to the starting point:
Leave the Gorenjska motorway at the Hrušica exit and follow the road towards Kranjska Gora. Just before the village of Dovje, the road branches off to the left and leads to Mojstrana (Vrata, Kot and Krma). Follow the road in the direction of the village of Radovna and the valleys of Krma and Kot. The relatively steep road then takes us past the TNP signboard, after which the road soon lays down and leads us to a crossroads where the macadam road to the valley of Kot branches off to the right. Continue straight ahead on the road, which begins to descend. In the middle of the descent, the road to the Krma valley branches off to the right (straight ahead Radovna). A little further on, you come to the next crossroads, where you continue to the right in the direction of Krma. The macadam road then leads to Kovinarska hut, and we follow it further. Occasionally, a slightly worse road then leads us to the parking lot in front of the gate.
Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the road past the gate to the extensive gravel deposits. A few minutes of easy walking on the gravel follows to a marked but sometimes harder to see crossroads. The footpath continues straight ahead, but signs point us right across the stream into the woods, where the path begins to climb gently. Only after about 40 minutes of walking does the path become steeper, but not too steep. At 1300m, the moderately steep path leads us out of the forest between dwarf pines. Here we start to get beautiful views of the nearby walls of the peaks above the Krma. The climb does not take long, however, as the path soon drops by a few metres and leads us to the beautiful mountain Vrtača. The walk across the beautiful grassy plain is very pleasant and scenic. On the other side, the path starts climbing again, this time through a rare forest. This climb does not last long either, and is interrupted by the Malo polje plain, where the path turns to the right.
At Malo polje, look out, because just 10 m after the crossroads where the path to Vodnikov dom branches off to the left, a less obvious path branches off to the right, leading into the Grass Valley. As Malo polje begins to narrow, you will notice a less well-trodden path on the right, which continues along the right-hand edge of the valley. Soon you will reach an indistinct valley "dip" where a faint path starts to climb. Continue along the grassy track, which was once surfaced but is now overgrown with grass and, in places, bushes. Somewhere in the middle of the climb over the grassy slope, the track turns right into the forest and then climbs cross-country to a hunting lodge.
At the hunting lodge, continue sharp left, and we continue our ascent along a path that is initially steep and then moderately steep, climbing mostly through sparse forest. The path, which is poorly trodden but can be followed with some effort, climbs higher and becomes lane of dwarf pines. From here it is a few minutes' walk along a small valley and we join the marked path leading towards Stanič's home.
The marked path is reached just on a small plain, and we follow it right uphill. After a short climb, an unmarked path branches off in the middle of a left-hand bend into the Cow Valley, and we follow the marked path towards Konta pod Rjavina, only to reach it after about half an hour's climb through the increasingly sparse dwarf pines. The path continues on to the scree below Rjavina, which we climb towards the Dovški vratace. Before reaching the gate, the marked path turns to the left, where it turns semicircularly to the left. When the path is slightly smoother, the path from Konjski preval joins us from the left, and we continue to the right in the direction of Staničev's home, and in a few minutes of moderate ascent we arrive at an undistinguished ridge, where the marked path to Rjavina branches off to the right. Continue straight ahead and follow the path, which begins to descend moderately, with views of Triglav, Begunjski vrh, Visoka Vrbanova špica, to Dom Valentina Staniča, which is reached after about 10 minutes of descent.

Discussion about the trail Dolina Krma - Dom Valentina Staniča (via Travna dolina)

Dali ste mi čudovito idejo malo drugače iz Krme do Staniča. Po označeni sem že šel in mi je ta pristop do koče zelo všeč čeprav je iz Kota in Vrat krajši. Opravit moram za nogovice še Vrbanove špice in ker mi ni Kot najbolj po godu, bom šel pač od Staničeve tja in nazaj.
