Trnovec - Osolnik (via Govejski graben)

Access to the starting point:
a) First drive to Medvode, then leave the main road at the Špar shop and continue towards the railway station and Sora. In Sora, turn left towards Katarina, and when you reach Trnovec, look out for the red mountain signs for Osolnik on the right-hand side of the main road. A good 100 metres further on, at the turn-off of the dirt road, there are others. Park in the roadside parking lot, between the two branches of the Osolnik trail.
b) From Kranj, drive towards Škofja Loka, and from the outskirts of Škofja Loka follow the signs for Gorenjska vas. Before the Sten tunnel, take the exit from the roundabout towards Sora. Continue through Hosta, Pungert, Gosteče and Draga to Sora, where you turn right towards Katarina. When you reach Trnovec, look out for the red mountain signs for Osolnik on the right hand side of the main road. A good 100 metres further on, at the turn-off of the dirt road, there are others. Park in the roadside parking lot, between the two forks of the path to Osolnik.
c) From Poljanska dolina, drive towards Škofja Loka and then take the ring road and go through the Sten tunnel. Turn right after the tunnel and follow the signs for Sora. Continue through Hosta, Pungert, Gosteče and Draga to Sora, where you turn right towards Katarina. When you reach Trnovec, look out for the red mountain signposts for Osolnik on the right-hand side of the main road. A good 100 metres further on, at the turn-off of the dirt road, there are others. Park in the roadside parking lot, between the two branches of the path to Osolnik.

Path description:
From the starting point, take the side road in the direction of Osolnik, the Osovnik log cabin and the Doma na Govejku. At first, we climb along the macadam road, from which the mountain path to Govejek soon branches off to the left, and we continue along the road to the right turn, where after crossing the Govejeski graben stream, we continue to the left on the marked mountain path. We climb along the stream for a while, then the path turns slightly left and passes onto a slope. A steep climb follows for a few minutes and then we arrive at a marked crossroads, where we continue right towards Osolnik (left Govejek). After a short, winding crossing we arrive at a macadam road, which we reach at a crossroads, and from the crossroads we continue on cart track in the direction of Osolnik. We soon return to the road, and leave it again when the signs for the Osovnik log cabin direct us to the right, onto a track which we quickly climb to reach the log cabin.
At the log cabin, step onto the macadam road, which descends in 10 steps to the road we left before the log cabin, and continue walking right to a small pass, where you continue to the left. Go up the road past the goat house, then before the last house go slightly right on the ascending cart track, which you follow with beautiful views all the way to the nearby church and to the top, which is located a little behind the church.
