Adergas - Apnišče (via Šterna)

Access to the starting point:
a) From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice, take the Vodice exit and then continue driving in the direction of Krvavec and Cerkelj na Gorenjskem. From the roundabout at Spodnji Brnik, take the exit towards Krvavec and Cerkelj na Gorenjskem. Follow the main road through Cerklje na Gorenjskem and then to Češnjevek and a little further to Trata, where you turn right towards Adergasa. Continue along a slightly narrower road, and we follow it to the Adergas monastery, where we park in a large parking lot.
b) Leave the Gorenjska motorway at exit Kranj - East or Brnik, then continue to Šenčur. Continue through Šenčur, where in the middle of the village turn slightly right in the direction of Srednje vas. Continue along the Velesovo road, and at the junction where the road to Velesovo branches off to the left, continue straight on the main road. A little further on, you reach a junction with a priority road, where at a stop sign you continue left (right Praprotno Polica). When you reach the main road Visoko - Cerklje na Gorenjskem, turn right, then immediately left onto the road to Adergas (practically just crossing the main road). Continue along a slightly narrower road, and we follow it to the monastery Adergas, where we park in a large parking lot.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the asphalted road, which continues along the left-hand side of the walls of the former monastery. Follow the road to the first left turn, where the signs for Štefanja gora direct you to the right onto a footpath. After a further 10 paces, the marked path turns left and starts to climb steeply. Soon the steepness gives way and the path from the water reservoir joins us on the left. Continue slightly to the right, past a small signpost, along a gently sloping path which continues along and along cart track, which is usually quite muddy for a few days after rain. A little further on, the path from Velesovo joins us from the left, and we continue along the wide and gently sloping cart track. The easy path then leads us to a marked crossroads, at which there is a small chapel.
Continue left in the direction of the 'stterna' (to the right of the 'bench') along the path, which continues for some time along the folded cart track. Cart track soon turns into a wide and slightly steeper footpath, which joins another wider cart track higher up. Continue a moderate ascent through the forest and the marked path from the village Olševek joins from the left. Just above this crossroads we come to the "stterna", where the path turns sharp right and after a further short climb leads us to a small pass, where the next crossroads are located, with direction signs for Olševek, Adergas and Možjanca.
Continue along the left cart track (the rightmost path leads to the church of St Stephen at Štefanja gora), from which you soon turn left onto a well-trodden but unmarked path. A little further on, the path leads us out of the forest to a meadow, from which we have a nice view towards Kalški greben and Krvavec. When the path returns to the forest, there is only a short climb and the path leads to the top of Apnišč.
