Aljažev dom v Vratih - Stenar (via Stenarska vratca)

Access to the starting point:
Leave the Gorenjska motorway at the Hrušica exit and follow the road towards Kranjska Gora. Just before the village of Dovje, the road branches off to the left and leads to Mojstrana (Vrata, Kot and Krma). Follow the road in the direction of the Vrata valley and follow it to the large parking lot near the Aljaž's home.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the macadam road, which after a 3-minute walk leads to the crossroads at Aljaževem dom. Continue right in the direction of Škrlatica and Dolkova špica along the path which leads us across the meadow into the forest. Continue up the initially gently sloping cart track, which changes to a slightly steeper footpath higher up. Soon, however, the path leads to the bed of a torrent, along which it climbs for only a short distance before turning right and climbing steeply through the forest. The path then turns to the left, where it crosses a short avalanche-prone slope, and then gradually passes onto the slopes below Stenar. Continue up the slopes mentioned above, which are lightly vegetated with dwarf pines and individual larch trees. Higher up, the path leads to a small crossroads, where an unmarked path branches off to the left towards Stenarski vratace.
At the point where the marked path turns sharp right, you will see a small cairn marking the start of the path towards Stenarski vratace. At first less visible, the path climbs gently to moderately towards the scree below the north face of Stenar. Higher up, the path becomes more distinct, and initially over larger rocks and some rubble, it leads to the aforementioned scree. Here the path begins to climb steeply up the scree, and our goal is now the valley headland at the foot of the Stenar gate. Once we reach the top of the scree, however, our relatively easy access is stopped by a shorter, not very pleasant rubble wall. Next, we climb up a series of successive shelves and ravines, taking care not to slip down a step due to the considerable rubble and sand (there is also a high risk of falling rocks, especially if someone is walking in front of us). After a difficult climb of about 20 minutes, we reach Stenarska vratca, which offers a beautiful view towards Bovec Gamsovec and Pihavec.
Here we descend slightly, then continue left, where we quickly join the marked trail leading to Stenar. Continue across the scree and, with fine views of Triglav, Bovški Gamsovec, Pihavec and the valley of Trenta, walk up to the slightly steeper slopes of Stenar. From here on, the path starts to climb steeply (compared to the climb to Stenarska vratca, this path is quite easy) over beautifully broken rocks, and then turns sharply to the left, where it suddenly lays down after a few 10 m. Here, or just 10 m earlier, a pathless approach to Spodnji Stenar branches off to the right, and we continue on the marked path, which again begins to climb steeply. After about 15 minutes of walking on the top slope of the mountain, the increasingly scenic path leads us to the 2501 m high summit.
