Begunje (Krpin) - Smokuški vrh (through Blatnica Gorge)

Access to the starting point:
Exit the Gorenjska motorway at exit Radovljica or Lesce, then follow the signs for Begunje na Gorenjskem. When you arrive at Begunje na Gorenjskem, first follow the signs for Tržič and Draga, then turn left after the hospital in the direction of the Krpin Recreation Centre, which you will reach after about 100 metres of further driving. Park in the large parking lot next to the recreation centre.

Path description:
From the starting point, continue along the asphalt road, which climbs easily and leads past the signpost to the Mravlinc waterworks in a few minutes, where parking is also possible. Here, cross the bridge on the asphalt road and climb up to the last house, where the road becomes macadam and turns right. Just a little further on we reach a crossroads where a path branches off to the left, leading to the Church of St Peter, and we continue straight on, passing the water reservoir, to the next crossroads where another path (road) branches off to the left, leading to the Church of St Peter and Sankaška koča, and we continue straight on, following the road that leads us into the gorge of the Blatnica brook. At first, we climb above the picturesque stream, then gradually we approach the stream bed. The path continues past one of the Blatnica waterfalls, and then forks.
Continue left along the wider cart track, which continues through the forest and which leads us along the torrential stream (straight ahead along the path that runs alongside the Deep Stream). A slightly steeper climb follows, and at the crossroads we follow the wider path, which leads us higher up to the crossroads at the Kališča pass, where we also reach the marked St. Peter's-Polješka mountain pasture path.
Continue left in the direction of St Peter and start climbing parallel to the macadam road, which you cross higher up, just before the end of the road. A few 10 paces further on, leave the marked path leading further towards St Peter's and start descending, continuing slightly right on an unmarked cart track, which continues cross-wise to the right. At a nearby crossroads, choose the lower cart track, and then there is a bit more scrambling. When the traverse ends, cart track becomes a forest path, which takes a few minutes to climb to the summit of the lookout.
