Belopeška jezera / Lago di Fusine - Poldnik (Kopa) / Picco di Mezzodi

Access to the starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, drive to Trbiž / Tarvisio via the Rateče border crossing. Shortly after the border crossing, the road to Belopeški jezera / Laghi di Fusine turns off to the left, which is then followed up a moderate incline to the large parking lot at Upper Lake Mangart (Belopeška).

Path description:
From the parking lot continue along the left side of the guesthouse on the dirt road until you reach the junction of routes 512 (Rif. Zacchi, Biv. Nogara, Mangart) and 514 (Bivio Sent 515, Cap. Fontana Fredda, Ortigara), where you turn right (514, also 515 Picco di Mezzodi) and follow the signs for 514. The path soon leads to an expansive meadow above the upper Lake Belopeci, which you cross on the right side of a dirt road. At the top of the meadow go slightly left (do not go straight) and shortly afterwards at the crossroads go slightly right or straight (do not go left) and follow the 514. Shortly after the macadam road turns into a forest road and turns right, you will come to a small clearing, where you continue left uphill on a clearly visible track (straight ahead is a hunting observation post). The path then gains slope quite quickly. Soon cross a torrent and then climb through beech woods until you reach the Colrotondo saddle (1400 m), where continue left (515 Picco di Mezzodi, also Bivio sent. 519). Walking along a well-trodden path along the top of the ridge, the steeper part is followed by another steep section, which soon leads past a viewpoint (Monte Collarice (1485 m)). Later on, the steepness does not give way, and the mixed forest is replaced by dwarf pines and areas of scree. In the last part of the climb, the rope is also helpful, especially when returning to the valley. Above the most difficult part, we come to a crossroads where we continue to the right - 515 Picco (left 519 Alpe Moritsch). The summit is not far away - after 10 minutes of climbing we are at the top.
