Bijela - Canyon of Mostarska Bijela

Access to the starting point:
From Mostar, we drive along the Neretva River towards Jablanica, Konjic and Sarajevo. After about 20 km and just before or just after the bridge (aqueduct), turn right and drive another km to the starting point, which is at the bridge over the Mostar Bijela river.

Path description:
From the parking lot, follow the dirt track on the right or west side of the valley. After about 15 minutes, the path crosses a small river. If it's hot, top up your water here, because you won't be able to do so for the next two hours. Continue along the macadam path on the east side of the valley, the road becomes more upright until the turn-off for Lupoglav (LPG), where you do not turn right, but follow the path. Soon the path turns and begins to descend gently to reach the valley of Mostarka Bijela. Follow the road there and at the two forks, keep to the western path. After a good hour's walk, when you reach the caravan (and cairn), or a few metres earlier, turn right towards the forest. This is also the start of the waymarks that will help you all the way. From this point onwards the path is mainly in the forest (shade), with picturesque giant spodmoles and a family cemetery in between.
When we reach the stream (Mostarska Bijela), we do not cross it at first, but follow the sign (Ulaz u Pećinu), but later we do cross to the right bank of the stream and after a minute or two we are in front of the entrance to the canyon. Change into shoes that can get wet and head into the canyon. The last part is the most difficult, when we climb the smaller waterfall on the right side of the stream (our left) and we are already in front of the final magnificent waterfall.
