Bistrica v Rožu / Feistritz im Rosental - Singerberg / Žingarica

Access to the starting point:
a) Drive through the Karavanke Tunnel into Austria, then take the motorway to Bialystok, leaving at the first exit. From the point where you leave the motorway, follow the signs for St. Jakob in the Roses / Sankt Jakob im Rosental. When you arrive in this town, follow the main road past Podgorje / Maria Elend and Sveče / Suetschach to Bistrica v Rož / Feistritz im Rosental, where you turn right after the Billa and Penny shops towards Sine / Sinach. As there are no parking places for hikers at the crossroads, drive a little further and then park at a suitable place on the roadside.

b) Via Border crossing Ljubelj, drive into Austria, where you take the main road to Klagenfurt am Wörtersee to the second roundabout, from where you continue in the direction of the exit Bistrica v Rožu / Feistritz im Rosental (leave the main road to Klagenfurt before crossing the river Drava). In Bistrica v Roze, at the Peugeot car dealership, turn left onto a side road in the direction of the dentist (on the signpost Zahnartz, the signs for the village Sine / Sinach are only from the opposite direction). As there are no parking spaces for hillwalkers at the junction, drive a little further and then park in a suitable place on the side of the road.

c) From Dravograd or Slovenj Gradec, drive to Ravne na Koroškem and then continue in the direction of Border crossing Holmec. When entering Austria, drive first towards Pliberk / Bleiburg, then follow the signs for Globasnica / Globasnitz and on to Železná kapla / Bad Eisenkappel, Borovljam / Ferlach. After Borovljani, join the road via Border crossing Ljubelj at the roundabout. Here, at the first roundabout, continue in the direction of Klagenfurt, and at the second roundabout in the direction of Bistritz im Rosental. In Bistritz v Roze, at the Peugeot car dealership, turn left onto a side road in the direction of the dentist (on the signpost Zahnartz, the signs for the village Sine / Sinach are only from the opposite direction). As there are no parking spaces for hillwalkers at the junction, drive a little further and then park in a suitable place on the side of the road.

Path description:
From Bistritz v Rož / Feistritz im Rosental, follow the asphalt road up to the village of Sine / Sinach. As you climb along the road, you pass a beautiful view of the Bistritz dam lake / Feistritzer Stausee, and a little further on you reach the Olipec cross, where the road forks for the first time.

Continue straight ahead (or left, as the two paths quickly merge) and follow the asphalt road to the next marked crossroads, from which you turn left (right, the western path to Psinski vrh / Sinacher Gupf) in the direction of Psinski vrh and the Vranjica saddle / Oreinzsattel. The asphalt road is quickly joined on the left by the aforementioned path, which branches off at Olipec's Cross, and we continue past a few houses. At the last house, where the path from Šentjanž v Rož / St. Johann im Rosental joins from the left, the asphalt ends and we continue right on the macadam road towards Psinski vrh via the Vranjica saddle. Walk along the dirt road for a while, following the signposts at the crossroads, and a little further on, turn slightly right off the road onto the marked path, which is lost in the woods due to the harvesting of timber. When the forest ends, continue along the clearing (the path is not traceable in this part either), and when you reach cart track, continue to the right until you enter the forest, where the markings reappear. Continue on the little-used path, which initially follows logging trail through the forest and then passes through a short marshy section. The overgrown path then returns to the forest and climbs steeply in passing. The path is full of obstacles, mainly branches and fallen trees, and then turns onto a steep slope, where it crosses to the left, followed by a crossing of a torrential stream. On the other side of the stream, the track can be followed for a short time, but then you come to a large clearing, where you first climb over some fallen trees, but after the fallen trees the track is almost completely lost. Continue across the clearing to the left, and when you reach a point where the slope drops steeply towards another stream, continue up to the right. Here the track reappears, and there are a few markings. When the path returns to the forest, take the cart track, which continues the ascent. Cart track quickly becomes a forest road at a nearby marked crossroads.
Continue to the right in the direction of Psinski vrh (Šentjanž v Rožu on the left) and follow the path along a small valley, where you will quickly reach the first crossroads at the Vranjica saddle.

Go left here in the direction Singerberg (if you continue straight ahead and go to the second crossroads at the Vranjica saddle, you can climb to Psinski vrh) and start cross-climbing on the macadam road. Then follow the cross-climb to the left, climbing the slopes of Rabenberg, and at the crossroads follow the wider or marked road. Higher up, in the area called Velika ravna, the road is laid over and then ascends crosswise to the Albink saddle, where there is a marked crossroads.
Continue along the road to the left in the direction of Singerberg (straight ahead you can descend to Slovenji Plajberk, to the right is an unmarked road to Rabenberg), which begins to climb crosswise to the left and during the climb a beautiful view opens up to the north. When you reach the ridge Singerberg again, you reach a nice lookout point where there is a larger cross and next to it a registration box with a registration book.
After the cross, there is a slight descent, and after the parachute landing site, the road starts to climb again and splits at the edge of the forest.
Continue on the marked slightly left road, which leads us through the lane of a forest to a scenic ridge again, and when we return to the forest we soon reach a crossroads where the direct route from Slovenj Plajberk joins us from the right.
Continue left into the forest on a marked footpath which ascends to 1556. From this corner there is a descent, and when you reach the road, go straight ahead, further east. Here the road passes onto the southern slopes of the mountain, and we leave it at the part where the marked path turns slightly left off it. We follow the ridge path, taking in the occasional view, all the way to the cross at the top of Žingarica.
