Access to the starting point:
a) From the road Bled - Bohinjska Bistrica, in the settlement Bitnje, take a sharp right (slightly left from the route of Bohinj) in the direction of Pokljuka, Srednja vas and Jereke. There is a steep climb, and when the road levels out, continue straight ahead from the junction in the direction of Stara Fužina and Srednja vas (right Pokljuka, Koprivnik and Jereka). A little further on, we arrive at Bohinjska Češnjica, and the route described starts at the crossroads where the road to the apartments Čebelica branches off to the left. There are no parking spaces at the starting point.
b) Drive to Stara Fužina, then continue to Srednja vas and then Bohinjska Češnjica. At the beginning of Bohinjska Češnjica you will reach a crossroads where the road to the apartments Čebelica turns off to the right. There are no parking spaces at the junction where the route starts.
Path description:
From the starting point, we take a side road that leads us past the Čebelica apartments, and we follow the road down a little lower, where we cross the Suha stream. On the other side of the stream, we soon reach the Bohinj cycle path, and we follow the signs for Brod and Senožeta. When you reach a crossroads with wooden direction signs, turn left towards Brod (if you continue straight ahead, you will reach the foot of the ski slopes of Senožeta and Srednje vas).
From the junction onwards the road starts to climb and the asphalt ends quickly. The dirt track gradually approaches the ski slope, where it turns left, and then gradually flattens out higher up and turns south. There is a short descent to a crossroads where you go right (downhill left to Brod), and then a generally gentle ascent across extensive hayfields, walking mainly westwards, with Rudnica already clearly visible ahead. When the cart track brings us to a small saddle between Rudnica on the left and Kazanca on the right (the summit with the hunting observation point), go left and start climbing along the fence, where you follow a fainter track. Higher up, as you leave the hayfields and the path enters the forest, the track becomes more distinct and, a little further on, very steep. There is a steep climb over the hillside, where there are several fallen trees, but there are no major problems with the crossings, as the track mostly skirts them nicely. The steep path, along which older markings can also be seen, leads us higher into a flatter part, where we join the better-beaten path from Brod.
Here, continue to the right and follow the path along the edge of the precipice (the path is slightly offset from the edge, so there is no significant risk of slipping). Follow this scenic route to the nearby Rudnica peak, where there is a bench and, a few steps further on, a registration box.
The description and pictures refer to the situation in February 2020.
