border crossing Sotina - Sotinski breg (Kugla)

Access to the starting point:
a) First, drive to Maribor, then continue along the Pomurska motorway towards Murska Sobota. Leave the motorway at the Sveti Jurij ob Ščavnici exit and continue driving towards Radenice. In Radenci, turn left towards Gornja Radgona and then soon right towards Gederovci. From Gederovci continue straight on towards Krajna and Skakovci, and at Skakovci turn left towards Cankova. Continue through the villages of Breg, Krašči, Pertoča, Rogašovci, Serdica to the village of Sotina. In Sotina, drive in the direction of Kalch (Austria) and go through the gorge to the border crossing, where you park.
b) From Murska Sobota, drive to Gederovci, then continue to Skakovci, Cankova, Krašči, Pertoča Rogašovci, Serdica to the village of Sotina. In Sotina drive towards Kalch (Austria) and drive through the gorge to the border crossing, where you park.

Path description:
From the border crossing, turn right onto the road heading north. The path goes into the forest and climbs gently at first, crossing a few ravines as it climbs. There is a short descent to the Klavžni potok / Klausenbach stream.
The trail continues along the stream and we soon leave the forest and arrive at a meadow. At the end of the meadow, a sign on a peg points us sharp right (the sign is often not visible due to the tall grass) and it becomes quite steep, with a few steps to help us. The steepness eases upwards, and the path continues along the Austrian border. There are some serpentine climbs along a path through mixed forest and along tracks.
After about 20 minutes of steeper climbing, we can see the lookout tower ahead of us, which is only a short walk away.
Despite its modest height, the summit is a remarkable viewpoint.
