Bridge over Kotnica - Jelovička jama and Mihova jama

Access to the starting point:
a) Drive to Kočevje, then continue driving to Delnice. Before Colnarji, turn left towards the castle Kostel, and we pass through the villages Delač, Stelnik and Kostel to Gorenja Žaga, where we reach the road that runs along the river Kolpa. Continue left and shortly after the village of Gorenja Žaga ends, the road makes a long right turn, after which you reach a small bridge over the normally dry bed of the Kotnica stream. Park in a suitable place in front of the bridge.
b) From Vinica or Črnomelj, drive to the Old Market Square by the Kolpa River, where you turn left towards Prelesje. Follow the road down towards the Kolpa valley, and when you reach the road leading along the river, turn right. Along the river, drive almost to the beginning of the settlement Gorenja Žaga, or just after the bridge over the usually dry Kotnica stream bed, you will see signs for Jelovička and Mihovo Cave on the right. There is some space on both sides of the road where you can park.

Path description:
From the starting point, continue on the path in the direction of Jelovička Cave (slightly to the right Mihova Cave - the two paths merge higher up in the torrential stream), where you initially walk slowly through the forest on the left side of the torrent (right bank). A few minutes further on, the path leads into the bed of the normally dry Kotnica stream, where it ends. Continue along the moss-covered rocks and we soon reach the foot of the cliff. We continue along the wall and quickly reach the entrance to the Jelovička Cave.
Mihova Cave is located slightly to the east of Jelovička Cave and has a smaller entrance and is also smaller.
Even if you continue in the direction of Mihova Cave at the beginning, the trail will lead you to the same torrent.
