Access to the starting point:
Leave the Maribor - Graz/Graz motorway at the Šentilj exit, then from the junction in Šentilj continue straight on to Sladki Vrh, and from the nearby roundabout also follow the signs for Sladki Vrh. When you reach the river Mura, turn sharp left off the main road and park in the parking lot at the ford on the Mura.
Path description:
From the end of the parking lot, continue slightly left and walk to the pond, which you cross over a bridge. On the other side of the pond, pass the Mura Paloma Fishermen's Cottage on the right, and before reaching the main road, turn right onto the asphalt ascending path. After a short climb, go down the asphalt road past a few houses, and when you get closer to the main road, turn slightly right on the marked path that starts to climb through the forest. Through the forest, follow the markings carefully, but higher up the path lies and leads to an unmarked ridge, where you arrive at a nearby house. Continue along the yard of the nearby house (there is a warning sign for a vicious dog when crossing the yard), and follow the road behind the house down to the left-hand bend. When the road turns left, go slightly right on the marked cart track, which initially leads us through the woods and then past an older house to a hunting observation post, where we leave the woods. It is then a climb between fields, and when you reach the road you are at Beli vrh.
At Belem vrh, the marked trail turns right and begins to descend gently along the edge of the forest, and lower down the trail passes into the forest and leads us to the ridge above the Mura River. Through the forest, we also descend a little more steeply, and after crossing a small stream, the descent ends. There is a mostly cross-country climb, and then we descend along a fenced path towards the Mura. When you reach the right bank of the river, continue up along the stream, and when the path widens to cart track, the markers for Šentilj direct you to the left, where you continue to the "valley of peace", where the path turns to the right. Continue following the signs and when you reach the asphalt road, go left. After a few steps on the asphalt, the road splits and we take the lower path. Continue past a few houses, then turn right off the asphalt road over a bridge onto a dirt track, with signs for the Steep Road. Continue along this road to a slightly wider tarmac road, where you take a sharp left. Just a little further on you reach the settlement Ceršak, where you go right after the sports ground, then follow the signs at several successive crossroads.
Continue in the direction of Šentilj and Brloge, where you walk between individual houses. The settlement then ends and along a macadam road you reach a small hamlet, which ends with a dilapidated JNA caravan, where there is a play park.
Go around the building on the left and then the path turns into a forest through which you gradually start to descend more steeply. At a lower level you reach a wider cart track, which you follow for a few steps to the right towards the river Mura, soon turning left onto another cart track. Leave the wider cart track after a few steps and continue slightly right on the path that continues along the Mura River channel. Continue along the water for a short distance and then the signs lead you left into the woods, where you first cross a small bridge and then climb steeply along a fenced path. Climb steeply for a few minutes, and after the bench the steepness begins to ease, and when you reach the forest logging trail go left. There is some scrambling to the left, and then you reach a marked crossroads, where you continue straight on (sharp right is the ridge of Gradišče, where there are many Celtic Trail signposts). Just a little further on from the crossroads, you reach the Gradišče Novine entry box on the Šentilj trail.
Starting point - Beli vrh 0:30, Beli vrh - Gradišče 2:00.
