Češnjice v Tuhinju - Dom na Menini planini

Access to the starting point:
a) First drive to Kamnik, then continue along the regional road through the Tuhinj valley. Just after the village Laze v Tuhinju, you will reach a petrol station, at which the road to the left turns off towards the villages Golice, Češnjice v Tuhinju and Okrog pri Motniku. Turn left here and follow the slightly narrower road to the village of Češnjice v Tuhinju, where there is a sports ground. Park in a suitable place on the roadside in front of or behind the village.
b) From the motorway Maribor - Ljubljana, take the exit Vransko, then continue driving in the direction of Kamnik. Just after the Kozjak Pass (a pass between Gorenjska and Štajersko), you will come to a petrol station, at which the road to the right branches off towards the villages Golice, Češnjice v Tuhinju and Okrog pri Motniku. Turn right here and follow the slightly narrower road to the village of Češnjice v Tuhinju, where there is a sports ground. Park in a suitable place on the roadside in front of or behind the village.

Path description:
Opposite the sports ground, take the road that climbs through the village, at the beginning of which you can see the signs for the ŠDT on one of the houses (the wooden signboard is damaged, so that you cannot see the whole inscription). After a short climb through the village, you arrive at the small NOB memorial park, where you continue to the right (the ŠDT route continues to the left) on the cart track, which climbs crosswise to the right. After a few minutes, cart track leads us into a small valley, where there is usually a wood pile, and we continue right at this point on the ascending cart track. We continue to climb cart track, which initially gives us some views of the surrounding hills, but then turns into a dense forest, where it leads us past an interesting watering place for game. Cross the macadam road (Zgornji Tuhinj and Golice on the left, Okrog pri Motniku on the right) and continue the ascent along the cart track, which quickly leads to the Kovran hut, where the cart track turns slightly to the left. There is a cross-climb to the left and then a crossroads, where a short path continues straight ahead to a nearby hut on the edge of a larger mountain pasture, and we continue to the right, climbing alongside a pasture fence. Higher up, at the trestle, take the second turning to the right and continue to climb along the pasture fence, and a fine view opens up from the path towards Kumu. After a few minutes of steep climbing, cross a grazing fence, cart track, which widens and also lays down. Continue along the wider cart track, which continues between pastures, crossing several fences laid over cart track. A little further on, we even see some old waymarks along the way, and we join a minor road behind them, which we follow upwards. After a minute or so of further walking, we reach a wider road, and we follow it to the left in the direction of Tuhinj (on the right Biba mountain pasture). We walk along the wider road for a few minutes, and then at the beginning of a left bend, we continue slightly to the right onto a forest road, which we follow moderately uphill through the forest. When the road leads us out of the forest, we arrive at Česensko poljano, where the road changes to cart track, which leads us in a slight downhill to a crossroads, where we join the marked trail Golice - Dom na Menini mountain pasture. Follow the trail to the right, then follow the signs at several crossroads. When the forest thins out again higher up, you arrive at a marked crossroads where the trail splits into two parts. The right path leads to Vivodnik, while the left one bypasses the summit and leads directly to Doma na Menini mountain pasture. Continue along the right-hand path, which, with occasional views, quickly leads to the highest peak of the Menina mountain pasture, where there is a small wooden lookout tower.
On the other side of the summit from the lookout tower, more precisely near the registration box, you will see the start of a marked trail which begins to descend to the north-east. The path then turns slightly to the left, where it crosses the lane of the forest, then lays down and leads us in a slight ascent to a marked crossroads, where we are joined on the left by a path that bypasses the top of Vivodnik. Continue straight into the lane of a forest, and then the path starts to descend more visibly towards Dom na Menini planini, which we can already see in front of us, and which we reach after a few minutes of further walking.
