Doklece - Ptujska Gora

Access to the starting point:
a) Exit the Štajerska motorway at exit Slovenska Bistrica - South, then follow the road to Poljčane and from there to Makole, Majšperk and Ptuj. At the end of Majšperk exit the roundabout in the direction of Žetale and Jurovci. At a major crossroads, take a sharp left in the direction of Jurovci and Podlehnik (straight towards Žetale). Continue along the main road to Doklece, where the route described above starts at the 4. 5 km marker. There are no parking spaces at the starting point.
b) Leave the Podravje motorway at exit Lancova vas, then follow signs for Podlehnik and Jurovce. At the end of Tržec, turn right at the roundabout towards Jurovci and continue towards Majšerko. When you arrive in Doklece you will first notice the mountain direction signs, where you can park in a suitable place, otherwise drive a little further to the 4. 5 km road marker, where the route described above begins. There are no parking spaces at the starting point.

Path description:
A few steps east of the 4. 5 km road marker, a marked path branches off to the north side of the road, passing the beehive on the right and then climbing briefly along the edge of the forest. A little further on, the markings direct you to the left into the forest, through which you climb crosswise to the right, and when you leave the forest you reach an asphalt road near an apartment house, which you then follow through the settlement.
The Doklece settlement ends after a few minutes, and the way ahead leads through the forest and continues to climb gently to moderately for the most part. Higher up, you reach a marked crossroads, from which you continue left towards the Basilica, Majšperk, Jelovice and Donačka gora (Lovrenc na Dravskem polju on the right).
After the crossroads, there is some downhill, and the path opens up to a fine view towards the two churches at Ptujska Gora. After a short descent, you reach Ptujska Gora, and from the crossroads behind the chapel, take a slight right to quickly reach the cemetery and the church of St. Lenart. After the cemetery, reach the parking lot, and at a small crossroads, turn left. After walking for a few more 10 steps, leave the road at the sign and climb the stairs to the Basilica on Ptujska Gora, from where you will have a nice view.
