Dolina Ločnice - Polhograjska Grmada (via Robež)

Access to the starting point:
a) From Ljubljana, Kranj or Vodice, drive to Medvode and from there continue to Sora. At the crossroads at the beginning of Sora, just after the small bridge, turn left in the direction of Katarina and the village of Trnovec. Continue along the valley of the Ločnica towards Katarina (Topole), and we follow it to a place where the signs for Turistična kmetija Robež direct us to the right onto a dirt road. Here you can either continue straight ahead and then park a few metres later at a suitable place along the road, or continue right in the direction of the farm and then park at a suitable place along the dirt road.
b) First drive to Škofja Loka, and from there continue driving towards Sora. At the end of Sora, turn right in the direction of Katarina and the village of Trnovec. Continue along the valley of the Ločnica towards Katarina (Topole), and we follow it to a point where the signs for Turistična kmetija Robež direct us to the right onto a dirt road. Here you can either continue straight ahead and then park a few metres later at a suitable place along the road, or continue right in the direction of the farm and then park at a suitable place along the dirt road.
c) Leave the Primorska motorway at the Brezovica exit and then continue in the direction of Dobrova and Polhov Gradec. Continue along the Gradaščice valley and follow the main road towards Polhov Gradec to a small crossroads where the road to the right branches off towards the villages of Osredek, Topole (Katarina) and Belo (the branch from the main road is located just before the beginning of the village of Hrastenice). When we arrive in the village Topole, the road to the village of Belo branches off sharply to the left, and a little further on, the signs for Medvode direct us slightly to the left, onto a road that gradually starts to descend (we continue on the main road through the village). The road then descends for quite some time, and we follow it to a place where the road to the tourist farm Robež branches off sharply to the left. You can park a few metres before the crossroads in a convenient place along the main road, or a little higher up on the dirt road leading to the Robež farm.

Path description:
From the crossroads in the Ločnice valley, follow the macadam road towards the Robež farm. The road climbs steeply at first, then leads to a sharp right turn where there are some suitable places where you can leave your vehicle. At the end of the bend, a forest road branches off to the left, and we continue along a wider macadam road that continues through the forest for some time. Higher up, the forest ends and with beautiful views of the surrounding hills, we quickly reach the tourist farm Robež.
Slightly to the left of the farm (looking in the direction of the farm access) are wooden direction signs for Katarina, Grmada and Tošč. From these signs, continue to the right in the direction of Grmada and Tošč and walk past the fruit and meat drying kilns to the farm, where cart track turns into a forest and begins to climb moderately. Climb for some time along cart track, which mostly passes through the forest, only higher up it leads over a short scenic slope, from which a view opens up towards Grmada and Toško. Cart track soon returns to the forest, turns into a wide track, and joins the marked path leading from Katarina towards Grmada.
The trail continues along and along the Lipja ridge, which initially leads past the NOB memorial plaque, slightly further on past a beautiful lookout point, and then continues through the forest with a few short ascents and descents. This route continues until it reaches a marked crossroads about 15 minutes below the Grmada peak.
Continue straight ahead on the marked trail in the direction of Grmada (Setnica on the left, Gonte Tourist Farm on the right). The trail then crosses the slopes slightly to the left in a moderate ascent and then starts to climb steeply up the summit and snow-slip-prone slope of Grmada. The steepness then eases and the path leads to the scenic summit ridge Grmada, from which it is only a few steps to the top.
