Dom pod Storžičem - Tolsti vrh (on hunting path)

Access to the starting point:
First we drive to Tržič, then we continue our drive towards Dovžana Gorge and Lom pod Storžič. At the end of Tržič, near the Lepenka factory, leave the main road towards Dovžana Gorge and turn right towards Lom pod Storžič. Above Lom pod Storžič we arrive in the village Grahovše, and we follow the road in the direction of Dom pod Storžič. After approximately 7. 7 km of driving from the junction at the Lepenka factory, of which 3. 7 km is on macadam, we reach a parking lot near Dom pod Storžič, where we park.

Path description:
From the starting point near Dom pod Storžičem, continue along the road for a short distance (direction Storžič), and then follow the parallel mountain path that climbs gently along the edge of the meadow. At the upper part of the meadow you will reach a small wooden hut where the path splits into two parts. We take the slightly right-hand path (left Storžič through Žrelo and over Škarjev rob), which continues along and along the relatively steep cart track. The path dips slightly higher up and turns to the right. It then climbs cross-climbing to the right for some time before reaching the edge of a steep gully, over which it climbs cross-climbing to the nearby wide cart track, which is reached just at its end. Leave the cart track immediately and continue slightly left into the forest. Continue through the forest for some time, following the path which descends gently for some time, and then reach a small crossroads, from where you continue in the route Mala Poljana.
From the crossroads onwards, the path starts to climb again, crossing the slopes to the right all the time. At a higher altitude you reach cart track, which is a quick walk to the nearby Mala Poljane.
From the marked crossroads at Mala Poljana, continue straight west, walking along the pasture fence. After a short climb along the pasture fence, continue right into the woods, where you will come to cart track, which you will follow to the end of the climb. From the end of cart track, climb up to an undistinguished forest ridge, where an old hunting track can be traced a little higher up. The track can still be followed through the forest, but higher up the track often disappears for a longer time or is completely overgrown and practically untraceable. During the ascent, stick to the east ridge Tolsti vrh, which is mostly overgrown by dwarf pines, while we look for transitions between dwarf pines. While passing through dwarf pines it is possible to follow an old hunting trail, which is completely overgrown, but still traceable at ground level, i. e. under dwarf pines. Occasionally, during the ascent, traces can be seen that dwarf pines was burnt many years ago. Once we have crossed all the bands of dwarf pines, we see the summit in front of us with only a few steps of ascent to go. The route described is abandoned and practically impassable. If we decide to climb the "route" described above, we will not miss climbing through dwarf pines.
