Dom v Dragi - Begunjščica (via Preval-a)

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Brezje, Radovljica or Lesce, then continue in the direction of Begunj in the Gorenjska region. When you arrive in Begunje, drive through the centre of the town, and at the crossroads follow the signs for Kamen Castle and Dom v Draga. On the other side of the town, the main road turns right towards Tržič, and we continue straight on to a narrower road that quickly takes us into the Draga valley. For a short time we continue along the asphalt road, and then the asphalt ends and the road leads us to the parking lot in front of the Dom v Draga. As only guests are allowed to park in front of the lodge, we continue to the right, and after a further 100 metres we park in one of the two larger gravel car parks.

Path description:
From the parking lot continue along the road, which takes us past the beehive in a few minutes walk to the crossroads, where we continue to the right in the direction of mountain pasture Preval čez Luknjo (to the left mountain pasture Planinca, Poljška mountain pasture and Roblek's home). The path crosses a stream and then climbs gently along the valley floor for some time.
Further on, the valley narrows, and the path leads us in a moderate ascent to a narrow ravine, along which, with the help of fixed safety gear, we climb steeply upwards.
The short sheltered part is not technically particularly difficult, but is exposed to falling rocks.
Higher up, the path leads out of the ravine, where it then continues along the stream for some time. There is a short climb up a short ladder (not difficult) and then the path enters the forest, where it continues until it reaches a worse road.
Follow the road for a few steps and then the signs direct you to the right onto a waymarked footpath which continues along and along cart track. Higher up, cart track finally turns into a footpath which heads slightly to the right and starts to climb steeply. Follow this relatively steep path in the last part all the way to mountain pasture Preval-e, which is reached after a few minutes of further walking.
From the cross at Preval, continue northwards on the marked footpath in the direction Begunjščica over Kalvarija (to the left Roblek's home over the Rožo, to the right Ljubelj and Podljubelj). The path ahead initially climbs over a grassy slope with a view, then passes into a forest through which it begins to climb steeply. Higher up, the forest begins to thin out and the path becomes slightly steeper. A fairly steep climb follows, initially through a few dwarf pines lanes, but higher up over steep grassy slopes which are particularly dangerous for slipping in wet conditions. The path then climbs up a steep grassy slope for a few minutes. When the slope is a little higher, the marked path turns left and crosses the slopes to the left. Just a few minutes further on, we arrive in a small valley where the slope is further flattened. Cross the valley (slightly to the right of the valley, you can climb to Begunjska Vrtača in 15 minutes on an easier trackless path), and then climb to the main ridge of Begunjščica in a few minutes. Once on the ridge, there is a fine view to the north, and we continue on the gently sloping path, which continues along a slightly narrower ridge. There is a short descent to a small saddle, where the "path" over the Šentanski plaza joins from the right. Here the ridge Begunjščica widens and we follow the increasingly scenic path to the summit of Veliki vrh. There is another very short descent, and then without any major problems we climb to the highest peak of Begunjščice in a few minutes.
