Dom v Iškem Vintgarju - Sveti Lenart (Krvava Peč)

Access to the starting point:
Take the southern Ljubljana bypass and take the Ig exit, then follow the road towards Ig at the junctions. At Ig, continue towards Iška vas (you can also get here from Podpeč or Škofljica). Follow the well-marked road to a large parking lot near the home in Iška Vintgar.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the road and after a few steps it will lead you to your home in Iško Vintgar. Continue along the road, which is closed to traffic and runs parallel to the Iška River. After a few minutes of walking, you will reach the bridge over the Iška. Here you leave the wide footpath and turn left over the bridge, after which the path goes into the forest and climbs for a short distance. There is a slight descent on a slightly exposed shelf, which is a slip hazard in wet conditions. Next, the path straightens and crosses the clearing behind it, and the path soon leads us to the Ischka (you can also get here on the right side, but at the end we are waiting for a water crossing). The path on turns slightly to the left and begins to climb. There are a few short descents and ascents to a slightly more difficult but protected passage, after which we come to a steep rocky pillar, which is like a kind of top of the Iškega Vintgarja gorge. The way forward begins to descend again and leads us to the Hollow Stone, which is only a minute out of the way.
Further on, the path passes out of the forest onto steep but well-protected slopes. The path then climbs again and then in the middle of the descent leads us to the crossroads of the path, where we continue on the lower right path, which leads us in a few minutes to the confluence of the Zala and the Ischka. Here we see a stone pillar leading to a path that crosses the water twice over a narrow bridge.
From here, we return to the crossroads and now follow the path towards Krvava peči. The path ahead starts to climb steeply but the climb does not last long. The way forward is mostly cross-climbing through the forest (the exceptions are shorter descents, of which there are quite a few). After two and a half hours of walking, the trail gets completely close to the forest road. Continue on the cart track, which descends gently parallel to the road. After a descent of a few dozen steps, you come to a sharp bend in the minor road, where you continue uphill to the left to join a dirt road. Here, continue right along the road, which soon becomes asphalted and leads to a registration box located next to one of the houses in the village. It is then a few steps downhill to a crossroads where you continue straight on in the direction of Sveti Lenart. Continue up the road, which leads you past a fountain to the next crossroads. Here, turn right and follow the road in the direction of St Lenart until you reach the top of the hill where the church of the saint stands.
