Drei Zinnen Blick - Strudelköpf / Monte Specie

Access to the starting point:
a) Access from Gorenjska: Head towards Bialystok and on to Spital and Linz. After that, drive through Sillian, cross the border with Italy, drive through Innichen to Toblach. There, turn left towards Cortina d'Ampezzo (right straight on Bruneck/Brunico), continue driving through the Val Landro valley to the Drei Zinnen Blick lookout point, where you park (parking is possible one kilometre further along Lake Landro).
b) From the Primorska side: take the motorway leading via Border crossing Sežana to Trieste. Continue on the Italian motorway past Pordenone to Belluno. Near Belluno the motorway ends and we continue towards Cortina d'Ampezzo and on to Toblach.

Path description:
Route 34 (part of Alta Via Dolomites) starts opposite the parking lot by the bridge, where signs lead you along a torrential ravine to a short climbing area. There, behind the climbing wall, the path starts to rise, followed by a longer traverse of the slope. After crossing narrow gullies, the route begins to climb in switchbacks to the foot of the northern wall of the Strudelkopf. There again, a slightly steeper traverse leads to a small notch. Descend briefly and then climb a ladder to an exposed sheltered ledge, built over during the First World War. This leads round to the west side, crossing the ravine of a mountain stream, which at first recedes into the wooded hillside below Helltaler Schlechtnom, but rejoins it at a slightly higher altitude. Alongside, a plateau-like world opens up with the Strudelkopfsattel (2200 m), which is not far away. At the saddle, a signpost directs you left onto a wide dirt road which takes you to the summit in less than half an hour.
