Erjavčeva koča na Vršiču - Prisank / Prisojnik (Kopiščarjeva pot)

Access to the starting point:
From Kranjska Gora take the road leading over the Vršič pass to Bovec or vice versa. Between the 22nd and 23rd serpentine of the Vršiška cesta you will reach the parking lot under Erjavčevo kočo, where you park.

Path description:
From the parking lot at Erjavčeva koča na Vršiču, follow the Kopiščarjeva trail in the direction of the Postman's Home and Prisojnik. The path is initially grassy and winding, then crosses a small torrent, where a small spring usually flows, and then climbs cross-cuttingly after the torrent. Continue along the marked path, which crosses an old road a little further on, and when you reach it for the second time, continue along it to the first serpentine on the right.
From the serpentine, continue straight on to the footpath, which continues to cross the slopes to the left, opening up a beautiful view of Ajdovská deklica and the surrounding mountains. After crossing a few small ravines, the path climbs steeply and leads to a marked crossroads, where you continue to the left (to the right, Poštarski dom na Vršiču).
There is a cross-climb towards the wall of Prisojnik, and before reaching the wall, the path branches off to the right towards the pass between Prisojnik and Sovno glava.
Continue straight ahead and you will soon reach the start of the climbing part of the route, where you will quickly realise that the route you are about to follow is not for everyone. The route ahead crosses the wall to the left by a small rock wall, and then turns sharply upwards to the right. A longer steep climb follows, where we are helped by the fixed safety gear, especially the scrambles and the rocks, but higher up the slope falls a little and then we climb through the dwarf pines, where we get a nice view of the Ajdovská deklica. At this point the path goes slightly to the right, but gradually becomes steeper again and runs along a rocky slope, where we are occasionally helped by a few wedges and rope ladders. Then we are about to enter the most difficult part of the route, where the 15-metre-high chimney is in front of us. The chimney is climbed with the help of a number of scrambles, but the chimney is also slightly overhanging in a few places, so it requires concentration and strength in the hands. The climb up the staples through a passage so narrow that you have to take off your rucksack and push it in front of you. We continue to climb steeply along the steel cable, and then we come to slightly less steep slopes, which lead us to a crossroads where we join the path from the Cottage on the Forest on the left. Continue slightly right upwards and there is some easy climbing on broken rocks, mostly without fixed safety gear. Soon we will see Prednje okno in Prisojnik on the right. We have to be quite careful when climbing up to the window as the path is quite crumbly and full of rubble and also exposed to falling rocks. In early summer there is also snow. From the window, we then climb steeply upwards with the help of numerous scrambles and then join the ridge path to Prisojnik. At the crossroads, continue left (Vršič on the right), but all the problems are not over yet. The path turns left and climbs up a slightly exposed slope along the steel cable towards the ridge. Walking along the ridge is then a little easier, but still quite exposed in places. Later, the Slovenian and Jubilee Trails join from the right. Then there is just a short climb and soon we reach a very scenic summit.
The Kopiščarjeva trail to Prisojnik is suitable only for experienced mountaineers, and many mountaineers even rate it as the most challenging high-altitude protected climbing route in Slovenia.
