Gornji Petrovci (Dol) - Sveti Benedikt (Kančevci)

Access to the starting point:
Take the road to Murska Sobota, then follow the signs for Hodoš. At Gornji Petrovci, turn left towards Kuzma, then go right for 100 m towards the Holy Trinity Church. Park only about 20 m further on in the parking lot next to the ecological island.

Path description:
From the parking lot, return to the main road Murska Sobota - Hodoš and cross it carefully, then continue in the direction of Križevci. Walk along the pavement at first, then go past the railway station and then over the railway overpass. On the other side of the overpass, continue straight ahead and continue walking on the asphalt road (some maps show the route continuing to the right here). There is some ascent and then you reach the beginning of Križevci, where you turn right onto a side road, where the marked path continues. The way ahead leads along a narrower asphalt road, where you pass a few houses, and after a short descent, turn right and continue walking along a worse macadam road. A little further on, the road turns sharp left, and then you pass a few more houses. After the houses you reach an asphalt road, and at a small junction go right (left to return to the main road). There is a bit of a climb again, and before a few houses you go left at a small junction. Go around the next house on the right, and after the house follow cart track, which leads you across a large meadow with a view. Cross the meadow, traverse the slope and then descend gently to an unmarked crossroads.
Continue along the left-hand cart track, which turns into woodland on the other side of the meadow, where you can see the markings again. Just before reaching the nearby road, take the cart track to the right onto the narrower cart track, which climbs up to a nearby farmhouse, where there is often a loose dog.
Continue straight ahead past the farm buildings and at the end of the farm, turn slightly right and then into the woods, where you continue along the waymarked wooded cart track. Cart track soon turns into a track, which, due to the poor footing, increasingly resembles a marked trackless track. Follow the markings carefully for a while, then the track widens into cart track, which leads to a number of antennas. Here, at a nearby house, continue left (right centre of the village Kuštanovci), and within a few minutes you will arrive near the tower at Kamenek, which is a few steps off the path, but cannot be reached because of the field.
From Kamenek continue on the road, which begins to descend, when after a few minutes the descent ends, from a small crossroads continue right on a side road, which continues through the forest, and walk along it to the place where a few 10 m in front of you you see a residential house. Go slightly left here, where a marked path continues along the edge of the forest, and when you reach an asphalt road just a little further on, go sharp left. Continue along the narrow asphalt road, which continues between the forest on the left and the field on the right, and soon leave the road as the markings lead us left into the forest, where the path disappears, so follow the markings carefully. Higher up, cross the asphalt road that connects Moščanci with Križevci, and we continue on the marked trail that continues through the forest. The trail gradually starts to descend, and we descend about 50 metres. At a lower level we reach a small puddle, after which we follow the cart track, which leads us past a hunting observation post and climb easily up to another asphalt road, which we reach at a small crossroads.
Cross the asphalt road and on the other side continue along the wider marked cart track, which initially continues through the forest, but when you leave the forest by the vineyard, it turns into a dirt road. Continue along the road with beautiful views, and at a nearby house the road becomes asphalt. Walking along the above-mentioned road, which crosses a little further lane of the forest, then leads us to the next houses in the village, where we go slightly left at a small crossroads.
When you reach the main road Gornji Petrovci - Kančevci, turn right and then quickly arrive in the village of Kančevci, where you continue along the main road for a few minutes. Continue past the cemetery on the right, and when you approach St Benedict's Church, signs from the road direct you to the left, where you will then pass through lane woods on a moderate ascent to reach St Benedict's Church, which is situated on a 358-metre-high hill.
