Access to the starting point:
Drive to Baška grapa or to the settlement Grahovo ob Bači, where you turn onto a side road in the direction of Zakojca, Bukovo and the railway station. After crossing the railway line, go left towards Bukovo (Grahovo railway station on the right) and start climbing. There are some serpentine climbs, and when you reach a crossroads where the road turns sharp right to the nearby Brelih homestead, visible from the road, the route described above begins. Park in a suitable place along the road about 200 metres further on in the direction Bukovo, or lower down along the road.
The starting point can also be reached on foot from Grahovo railway station, which takes about 30 minutes.
Path description:
From the crossroads near the Brelih homestead, continue along the road towards Bukovo (sharp right Bukovo top and Črvov vrh past the Pušnik homestead) and climb cross-country. Continue past a few houses on the right (some of them are slightly below the road), and when you see a few houses on the right, you are at the Pšeničnik homestead, where you leave the road and continue slightly right across the courtyard (you can also follow the homestead to the right at cart track). Above the houses, continue on cart track, which climbs transversely to the left and initially takes you over a scenic slope, before it splits into the woods.
Continue on the slightly left, lower cart track, which becomes steeper, less well trodden and muddy in places. After a few minutes of steeper climbing, we reach the asphalt road at the Žrelo pass, and we continue right towards Ponikva (left Zakojca and Bukovo) and start climbing towards the Šentviška plateau. After two serpentines we reach the first houses in the settlement Bukovo Vrh, and after a small sign we leave the asphalt road and continue slightly right on a steeper macadam road, which soon turns right and leads us to a garage.
At the garage, turn left onto cart track, which soon turns into a pleasant lane, and a slight incline leads back to the tarmac road. Follow the road to the right, and walk along it to a marked crossroads from which you continue to the right in the direction of Bukovo gaja. Just a little further on, the signs for Bukovo grove point to the left, and we continue slightly to the right, and after a few steps go right again. A few minutes of crossing and a fairly winding road leads us to the homestead at Pircu. Go around the buildings at the farmhouse on the left, then step onto the grassy path that continues between the grazing fences. When you reach an undistinguished ridge, continue along the pasture fence leading along the ridge and within a few minutes of further ascent you reach the Bukovo peak.
