Izlake (factory ETI) - Kalanov hrib (Kalanček) (via Medija Castle)

Access to the starting point:
a) Leave the Ljubljana - Maribor or Maribor - Ljubljana motorway at the Trojane exit and follow the road signs to Izlake. When you get to Izlake, turn right at the ETI factory (in front of Petrol) in the direction of Moravce. After 100 m of driving, there is a large parking space on the right side of the road where you can leave your car.
b) From the direction of Zagorje: From the Zagorje - Trojane regional road, take the exit to Izlake, where you turn left immediately after Petrol in the direction of Moravce. After 100 m drive, there is a large parking space on the right side of the road where you can leave your car.
c) From Moravče: Follow the Moravče - Zagorje regional road to Izlaki, where you turn left after the Pizzeria Čebelica into a large parking lot next to the ETI factory. Park the car here and continue on foot.

Path description:
The route starts at the ETI factory, where you park. Follow the asphalted road leading to Medija Castle into the forest. After a few minutes, you will reach Medija Castle, named after the nearby Medija stream. The castle was destroyed by the partisans in the Second World War. Next to the castle stands a restored chapel with the remains of John Vajkard Valvasor. The path leads us onwards to the right, where we cross a meadow with a slight incline, where we can also see the first markings on the nearby trees. A glance to the right reveals a forest path leading around Kalan Hill and past Valvasor's Cave towards Gladež. We continue straight ahead and follow the signs. The trail climbs gently at first, but later becomes a little steeper in some areas. The trail also leads past a forest bench where you can rest a bit. The path turns right at the bench and leads to fallen trees, which also bear markings. Bypass these trees on the left and join the forest road, which you follow to the markings, which direct you upwards to the right. The path leads to the edge of the meadow at the top of Kalanova Hill. Follow the path along the edge of the forest towards the top, where you will also see a sign for the path to Medijske Toplice, which leads past Zgornja Ravnia. At this point, join the path over the Reber and continue up the meadow to where a table and a registration box await you.
