Access to the starting point:
We drive to Bohinjska Bistrica, then continue our drive to Lake Bohinj. When you reach the lake in Ribčev Laz, turn right over the bridge and drive past the Church of St. John the Baptist to the nearby crossroads, where the signs for the parking lot direct you to the left. From the crossroads, drive for about 300 m and then park in the parking lot near the lake. There is a charge for parking, and most of the nearby car parks also charge a fee.
Path description:
From the parking lot, we return to the road leading to Stara Fužina, and we continue along the pavement to Stara Fužina. At the beginning of the above-mentioned place, you will see signs for the Peč climbing area, Rudnica and a cycle path, which will direct you to the right to a bridge over the Mostnica river. On the other side of the bridge, continue straight on, then a few steps further on, when the cycle path turns right, continue straight on the footpath in the direction of Peči and Rudnica. The path continues through the forest, and here and there it also leads past a short lookout point. After a few minutes of climbing, continue straight on in the direction of Rudnica (right viewpoint Peč - just over 5 minutes).
Continue walking along the path, which quickly leads to a hay field, over which you can easily descend. After a few minutes of crossing, when you reach the bed of a small stream, continue right up along the stream (left on cart track you can descend to Stara Fužina or the cycle path), where after a few steps you will see a marking. Leave the Cart track, which we followed in the last part, quickly, as the signs for Rudnica direct us to the left. A few minutes of moderate climbing follows, and then we enter another hayfield, where another path from Stara Fužina or Studor v Bohinju joins from the left, and one of the paths from the Brod settlement joins from the right. From the hayloft, from where we continue straight in the direction of Rudnica, we get some views of the nearby Julian Alps peaks, and a little further on we get a nice view towards Bohinjska Bistrica and the Lower Bohinj Mountains. When the path returns to the slopes from the ridge along which we walked for a short time, we step onto a larger hayfield, which opens up a view towards Lake Bohinj. Continue past a small wooden hut, where another path from Stara Fužina joins from the left, and then climb over the hayfield into the forest, through which you reach the main ridge of Rudnica in a few steps.
Here, the normal path from the village of Brod joins us from the right, and we continue to the left and quickly reach the top of Rudnica, which offers a beautiful view of the Upper Bohinj valley.
