Koča na Gozdu - Vršič vrh (on old road)

Access to the starting point:
From Kranjska Gora, drive over the Vršič pass towards Bovec or vice versa, but only as far as Koča na Gozdu, where you can park in the parking lot in front of the cottage.

Path description:
From Koča na Gozdu continue along the Russian Road towards the Vršič pass. After a few serpentines, the road is laid and this leads to a large meadow, alongside which there are a number of information boards. From here, the asphalt road is followed for only a few more 10 m, and then, on the left, you will see the start of the old road or mulatier, which leads to the Postman's Home at Vršič.
The path initially bypasses the wooden hut, then begins to climb moderately in numerous serpentines. Higher up, we join the path from Erjavčeva hut, and we continue along the wide mulatier, which only a little further on crosses a slightly steeper slope (in the snow there is a danger of avalanche and slipping). Higher up, the forest thins out, and the path gradually passes to the southeastern slopes of Vršič (1737 m). Here, the path is further laid, and with increasingly beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, it leads us quickly to the Postman's Home on Vršič.
At the Postman's House, we see the signs for Vršič, which direct us slightly to the right on a beautifully visible path that gradually becomes lane of dwarf pines. Here the path begins to climb steeply and after a few minutes' climb over a slope partly covered with dwarf pines leads us to a 1737 m high peak.
