Kopišča - Konj (Martinj steza)

Access to the starting point:
First we drive to Kamnik, then continue in the direction of Kamnik Bistrica and the cable car to Velika planina. At Stahovica, turn left (direction Kamniška Bistrica and cable car Velika planina) and follow the road ascending moderately, then pass the bottom station of the cable car at Velika planina. Just a few 100 m further on from the cable car to Velika planina, you will reach a small hamlet called Kopišča. Turn right here and park in a suitable place on the roadside.

Path description:
From the starting point, follow cart track as it climbs gently through the forest. At higher altitudes, cart track becomes quite rough and gradually starts to climb steeper and steeper. A little higher still, an old hunting trail will be seen, which branches off from cart track and continues to climb quite steeply. The path climbs moderately to steeply through the forest, and higher up it leads to the old mine tunnels. The path then moves on to steep but still forested grassy slopes. The path then briefly lays down and then begins to climb steeply through the forest in switchbacks. Higher up, you come to the foot of very steep slopes, where you cross a small wooden bridge and enter a rocky world. A short, very steep step is crossed by a steel cable, and the path then turns to steep and, especially in wet conditions, slippery grassy slopes. A little further on, the path lays down completely and then crosses the slopes to the right for some time.
The way forward leads us to a beautiful lookout point, after which the path soon passes to cart track and then past the hunting huts, leads us to a macadam road, along which we walk in a few minutes to mountain pasture Down, where there is a marked crossroads.
Continue left in the direction of Konja (right Velika planina) and continue across a folded meadow, over which you climb to the edge of the forest. The path continues into the forest, where it turns right and gradually starts to climb steeper and steeper. There is a steep climb through the forest for about 20 minutes, and then the path leads to a small lookout point. Here the path turns left and also slightly slopes down. Continue along the moderately steep path, where you soon pass from the increasingly sparse forest into the lane of dwarf pines. There is a short climb on a well-trodden path through dwarf pines and the path leads to mountain pasture Rzenik, at the edge of which a shepherd's hut can be seen.
From the hut, continue along the marked path towards Konjo (slightly left Rzenik on the western path, the path to Rzenik is not marked), which quickly leads to dwarf pines. Continue ascending the moderately steep path, which continues to lead through dwarf pines. Higher up, the path takes us right next to the main ridge, and here the path turns to the right and continues to climb through dwarf pines. Just a few more 10 steps of walking and the increasingly scenic route quickly leads us to the top of Konja. The enrolment box is located slightly lower, in the direction of Presedljaj. It is a short, steep descent down a protected climbing route.
