Leskovica - Blegoš (on unmarked path)

Access to the starting point:
a) Drive into the Poljane valley, where between Trebija and Gorenja vas, drive in the direction of Hotavlje, then follow the road towards the ski resort Cerkno. The road soon leads us to the village Kopačnica, after which it starts to climb steeper and leads us higher to the village Leskovica, where we see direction signs for Blegoš. The signs for Blegoš direct us to a narrow and steep road, which we then follow to a parking area next to a church.
b) First drive to Cerkno and then continue towards the ski slope Cerkno. Higher up, a little above the village of Dolenji Novaki, leave the road towards the ski resort of Cerkno and turn right towards Kopačnica and Leskovica. When you reach the village of Leskovica, the signs for Blegoš point you left up a steep road to the nearby church, where you park.

Path description:
From the parking lot, continue along the initially asphalted road, which quickly leads us into the forest with a view of Blegoš and the surrounding peaks. After a good 20 minutes of ascending the road, you will notice direction signs on the left hand side, directing you to cart track in the direction of the Mountain Guard Shelter on Jelenk.
The track then ascends slightly to the right and after a few steps leads us to a place where the path from Volaka joins us from the right.
Continue along the wide marked path, which crosses a torrential stream at a higher altitude and then climbs for some time. The path, which climbs moderately through the forest, soon leads to a forest road, which you follow to the right (straight ahead Zavetišče gorske straže na Jelencih, Koča na Blegošu and Blegoš).
From the crossroads onwards, the markings end and we walk along the road for a few minutes. After a short crossing, the road first turns quite left and then, in the middle of a longer bend, in a kind of torrential valley, we leave it and continue along cart track, which continues along the valley floor and soon turns right. Continue for some time on cart track, which climbs through the forest, and at a few small forks follow the better-trodden path. At higher elevations, leave cart track and follow the UPT 100 km route markers. A few minutes of steep climbing follow, and then we reach the marked path leading from the First Level to the Cottage on Blegoš, but we just cross the above-mentioned dirt track and continue straight towards the summit of Blegoš.
Although the branch is marked, the way ahead is not marked, but it is well trodden and relatively easy to navigate. A little higher, we cross a pasture fence and the path leads us out of the forest, onto the grassy slopes of Blegoš, which we climb to the summit in a few minutes, taking in the increasingly beautiful views.
