Ljubljana (Rakovnik) - Luknje

Access to the starting point:
Take the Dolenjska road in Ljubljana, where at the junction with Galjevica turn north-east towards the nearby Rudnik health centre and the Rakovnica church. You can park at a suitable place next to the church.

Path description:
From the parking lot, we continue along the asphalt road past the music school, which quickly leads us to the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, located on our left. We continue along the road for a short distance and then turn left, passing the roadblocks. We then climb the cart track, which leads us to a meadow where there is also a crossroads.
At the crossroads, where there are benches and a panoramic panel, the path from the football pitches joins us from the right and leads past a pond. We continue slightly to the left where we are also directed by direction signs along the way. Here we also join the thematic trails Heart Trail and Into the Woods for Health. From the meadow where there are a few more benches, the path quickly leads us into the forest, where other paths from the Crab Church join from the left. Continue straight ahead and after a few minutes of slightly steeper climbing the path leads us back to the crossroads where we continue to the right. Here you can also see some faded green markings on a tree.
The path becomes flatter and crosses wooded slopes. Here you will also see signs along the way with the exercises of the thematic trail Into the Forest for Health. Later, a path joins us from the left, which runs higher up along the fence of the shooting range. Here there are benches along the path again. We continue on the gentle path through the forest and soon join a dirt road.
Continue right along the road, which leads to a crossroads by the Astronomical Observatory. At the crossroads there are also information boards and drinking water (the tap is closed in winter).
At the crossroads, turn slightly left onto the footpath, where you will also find a signpost for the Planetarium.
From the crossroads, the path climbs steeply, and higher up, when the path is laid, another slightly less beaten path joins us from the left. The path then descends a little further, followed by a final climb to the top where there are information boards and models with astronomical educational content.
