Mače - Mali Grintovec (via Kozjek and Dolga njiva)

Access to the starting point:
From the motorway Ljubljana - Jesenice take the exit Kranj - East and follow the road towards Jezersko, but only as far as the village of Tupaliče. Here, the sign for Preddvor directs you to the left, and then follow the road in the direction of the neighbouring village Mače. Through the village Mače, follow the mountain signs for Kališče. Shortly after the village you will see a marked parking area where you park (no further driving is allowed).

Path description:
From the parking lot, turn onto the road you left. Follow it for about 40 minutes to the bottom station of the cargo cableway to Kališče. The road is more like cart track in the last part. From the cable car onwards, follow the markings carefully, as in the labyrinth of kolovozov the road quickly leads somewhere else. When we have completed this maze, all the cart tracks end. The path climbs steeply through the forest and leads to a wide ridge. Here the path turns left and climbs up this ridge. The path continues to climb and at a height of 1300m leads us to a crossroads. Here the path to Kališče branches off to the left, and we continue on the right path. After this we cross a ravine and after a few steps we reach the next crossroads. Here we take a sharp left after the Srednji vrh markings (straight ahead Hudičev Boršt). The path, which continues to climb through the forest, soon leads us into the valley below Dolgo njiva. Gozd then becomes rarer and the path turns slightly to the right. Soon we enter the meadows of Dolga njiva, where we can already see a house standing on mountain pasture.
Here is a crossroads, where we turn onto a less well-trodden path that goes horizontally behind the cottage (up along the valley). The path then begins to climb gently up the valley of Dolga njiva and after a good 20 minutes' walk leads us to the saddle, where the next crossroads is located. Bear left after the Mali Grintovec markers (right Srednji vrh). The path then climbs moderately over a slope partly covered with dwarf pines. After this short climb, we reach the ridge where the path from Kališča and Bašeljski vrh joins. Continue to the right along the path, which leads to the summit within a few minutes of further walking.
