Access to the starting point:
Croatia is reached via Border crossing Brežice / Bregana. Take the Bregana-Zagreb motorway to the Samobor exit. In the town, follow the signs for Rude and Jastrebarsko. When you see the right turn-off for Smerovišće, leave the main road and drive on to the village of Mali Lipovec (15 minutes) and the restaurant Šoićeva hiža, where you can park (if the parking lot is occupied, park further along the road, and otherwise it is advisable to park along the road, as the parking lot is reserved for the restaurant's guests).
Path description:
Next to the Šoićeva hiža restaurant (used to be a mountain lodge), you will see a sign for Lipovec Castle on a tree, pointing you into the forest. The path continues quickly up the eastern slope and climbs in many switchbacks to the top of Lipovec, where the ruins of the old castle are located.
The way forward leads us among the ruins (there is also an unofficial shortcut that bypasses the castle before the ruins), along the inner side of the wall, where we will also see a stamp (Lipovec Castle is a checkpoint on the Samobor Mountain Trail) and a registration box.
From here it looks like we have to go back, but if we look carefully we can see that the path leads us right through the ruins to the east. There is a relatively steep descent to the pass below the summit, where we join the slightly wider cart track, which we then walk along for some time. After a while, leave the cart track and climb steeply through the forest again. Higher up, we reach a headland, from which we descend a little way to the next pass. The path continues to climb moderately along the edge of the pine forest.
Higher up, the ridge is regained, and the path is mostly through sparse forest. The path continues along the edge of a grassy slope, and the path is partly rocky in places. After a fairly gentle path, you will quickly reach a nearby road, which you will then walk along to the Željezničar mountain lodge below Oštrec.
At the home, you will see signs for the summit, but it is still about 10 minutes' climb up a steep and sometimes very rough path. When we reach the top we are still in the forest, so it is worth continuing a little further to the large cross, from where an admittedly limited view opens up.

Pot od Šoičeve kuče do starega gradu je zelo ozka, zlizana, odnešena in je potrebna velika previdnost. V mokrem odsvetujem vzpon.
